Ok, so Reinhart has been playing much better lately, which stirred this thought: Okposo is a good fit with Eichel for the next year or two. He found his game, Eichel makes him better, and his contract probably won't be easily moved anyway.

I don't think that Reinhart and ROR is a good fit, because ROR needs more speed there. Reinhart also cannot excel on the 3rd line. With that said, I don't see a long term

Kane is gone.

For the sake of this exercise, I'm going to assume Mittelstadt signs and makes the team next year. If the Sabres want him as the long term answer at 2c, who better to learn it from than ROR. It also gives ROR needed speed.

So my lineup looks like this:

?-Eichel-Okposo
Mittelstadt-Ror-?

Is there a team that needs a playmaking wing, or would like to try Reinhart at 2C, and would trade speed at 1LW or speed at 2RW

Tldr; is there a "hockey trade" for Reinhart?

- jcragcrumple

Not in your scenario. Teams no longer trade to get slower, it just makes no sense from any stand point.

If they're dead set on trading him, you'd be looking for a team deep on defense and thin up front. A d-man who had promise but like Reinhart could never take that next step.

Considering the top forwards in the draft are lefties and so is ror, if we could find a right handed rw with handle id be all for it. Nylander is a righty but i think he likes the off wing if he ever gets good anyways. Righties with handle are usually harder to find so it might be tough. I think the handle part is more important than speed honestly as far as righties go compared to lefties. Only problem is youre essentially trading a rw for a rw. Probably not going to happen

It depends on the situation and the development growth Like nylander I absolutely hate that he’s in the AHL right he needs to be playing with man and not players that have no NHL future

Unless there's a team that thinks Reinhart is a 2C, and they have a disposable younger RW, or even a mid-20s RW

I think with a better team and some defense that can transition the puck Okposo and Sam are not dead...yet

Sure.
I think the best avenue would be to try and package him with something else (bailey, fasching maybe) to try and get a fast young dman.

I still think Reinhart can be a good player, I just think his place is not in Buffalo. The Sabres will lose their fastest wing in Kane, and the top 6 just can't be this slow. Reinhart's the easiest and maybe most valuable top 6 wing to move

That'll definitely be a hockey trade, if he goes. Our "change of scenery" player for yours.

I don't disagree, but then Kane would need to have a forward in return, not a dman.

Next year's D who are under contract:

Risto
Scandella
Bogo
Guhle
McCabe
Beaulieu

So either D are gonna have to be moved as well, or Reinhart will be here next year unless he's moved for a forward.

I don't even know if the Sabres are shopping Reinhart. It seems like they're listening to offers tho

If we are drafting in that 2-4 range this year theres kanes replacement.
If mittelstadt makes the jump theres another lefty for you.
Maybe throw in mccabe or scandella (blowboy would be better but he sux) with sam to get that young dman. Might be more enticing as whoever we would trade with would secure a replacement for a year for the dman they give up as well.

Agreed whoever we draft from 2 to 4 Is going to be in the NHL next year and Kane is easily replaceable

It's not going to be that easy to replace kane's 2 shots and 2 hits in the past 2 games. 0 points

2 wins

Is he still our best player?

He is the 7 million dollar irreplaceable goal scorer.

If he can keep up that torrid pace for the rest of the season we are a shoe in for the playoffs!
