Carol Schram: Bo Horvat expected back as Vancouver Canucks finish off road trip vs. Jets
After returning from their bye week with a 5-2 loss in Edmonton on Saturday, the Vancouver Canucks are expected to welcome Bo Horvat back to their lineup as they finish off their seven-game road trip in Winnipeg on Sunday.

They've gotta start finding kid in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds as well, can't just be about the first round.

Benning has, just got to be patient as not a lot of them are eligible for AHL yet, or are in NCAA. Demko has got Utica looking pretty good this year. Ad Lind, Gadj, OJ(if he doesn't make out of camp) and Dahlen next year. Maybe Boqvist if we draft him. Utica could be really good next year.

For me if Adam Gaudette signs with the Canucks and makes the team that'll kinda save the 2015 draft, producing two players.

I'm not holding out much hope for the 2016 draft other than Juolevi, so that's a negative for me, still time but I'm not holding out much hope beyond Juolevi. They 2016 draft is a huge disappointment, for a rebuilding team they only had six picks and four of them were 5th round and beyond....not good.

2017 is way too early yet but looks good on paper.

They need to start hitting on a couple of overage free-agents as well. This could be a very long process otherwise. Hopefully players like Chatfield MacEwen or Holm workout.

I so wish we went with Fox in the third instead of Lockwood

Jimbo can't be patient....his time appears to be up. Aquaman is the guy you need to check with about patience now

Im so hoping we land a couple good free agents this year. Two solid swedish defenders that are 22 and 23 and I am really hoping for Daniel Brickley but I think he will end up in Buffalo. Brickley has legit top 4 potential.

If he gets claimed I’ll be as pissed as I was when Aaron Volpatti was waived and claimed

I really like Lockwood. I wanted Fox then and would still prefer him now. But now its more because we have no defense and he has top 4 potential.

There was outrage because of the city he was born in and because he hit and fight people. He was a poopty NHL player.

Owners are the biggest issue in that it appears, at least to me, they don't understand the building process and the time it takes. All they're concerned with are profits and the bottom line.

If they had enough forethought to understand a winning team or Cup competing team will bring them those profits.

Considering GMMG produced so little in terms of NHL players during his tenure, Benning has been doing a good job. I don't just want to see NHL players. I want solid AHL players that can be considered depth, as well as create a culture in Utica that is good to bring prospects up in.

OJ from 2016 ofc, but Lockwood looks good. Injuries may prevent him from turning into anything though. Other than that there isn't anything. Stukel could be a good AHL player for us, Abols likely full bust/ECHL guy.

from 2015 Brisbois looks like he could be a solid depth for us, and could be a #6.

2014 he had a lot of good picks, lots of NHLer's but some of them no longer play for us. bad trading in that regard.

I don't measure Benning against the worst drafting GM in history, I measure him against the best. Of course he'll look good when the comparisons are bad at that aspect of their job.

He's been ok, just ok, to date anyways.

I think he has been above average tbh. 2014 produced multiple NHL players, 2015 at least 2, 2016 only 1. 2017 looks to have at least 3 in the future. but 2017 is hard to guess, as you stated earlier.

Hopefully it all works out in the end but as I said a few days ago I don't see enough evidence to support saying he's been good at drafting.

2014 was good, he produced multiple NHL players, it's disappointing it could have been so much better, but whatever, if Demko and Tryamkin workout I'd say that's a successful draft. Virtanen in my mind will be a middling forward, and there's nothing wrong with that, so three players is pretty damn good. 6th overall pick and McCann wasted...that's the downside.

2015 is an unknown for me, could potentially be good if Gaudette signs and he and Boeser light it up.

2016 is the biggest disappointment for me in that they finished third last and were clearly rebuilding yet they only had six picks in the draft and four of them were 5th round and beyond. That's a huge disappointment for a rebuilding club!!!!

2017 looks great, but largely unknown.

They have assembled some nice looking prospects, but you know as well as I do that doesn't mean squat unless some of those kids are able to bring their talent to the NHL level.

I think Arizona has had one of the best prospect pools for years and they still manage to be poop every year.

I picked Arz to finish second last in the division and got some serious flack for it. Though I also picked the oilers to finish first and Vegas to finish last, so...

Arizona appears to be walking the same line as the Canucks and failing even worse, compete and rebuild at the same time???

You have bought up Brickley a few times and peaked my curiosity. He would be well worth the risk of signing a contract.
I believe some of the players in Olympics will get an opportunity from some of us bottom-feeders.
I have been a fan of Cody Golobuef for many years and would be fine if they gave him another shot.
The Czech also have a couple defensemen worth keeping an eye on.
