This was the worst game in a very long time. The fans deserve much better effort. Brutal

Everyone is acting like we're going to trade these sorry losers for anything, is sadly mistaken.

Take off the Homer glasses.

Lehners trade value is ZERO, any scout that watched this game live, would not be interested

kane's trade value is slipping

Pouliot for a 6th
Gorges for a 4th

Hard not to be negative today, so I'll just ask....why do you think Gorges is worth more than Lehner/Pouliot? If the Sabres waived Gorges, would anyone claim him?

I think Bode Wilde stock is going to rise by draft time, too bad he'll fall into that sweet spot where are pick will be to high to take him, but any possible 1st we get after our firesale will probably be past where he'll go.

That's a good point. Not sure he's worth anything either.

I guess teams are always looking for d at the trade deadline? In the back of my mind, I keep thing tank master weber brought in a 3rd

Lehner would actually need to play in games , sometimes for 60 minutes or more.

Pouliot has size going for him.

Man I'm grasping

Sure, teams are terrified of not having enough depth on D.

Maybe that scout is chosen between 2 players.

1 (lehner) is terrible and the other is less than terrible.

Hopefully the scout went to the 3 good games lehner played all year.

Lehner has had more than 3 good games.

Again. I'm not saying he's some awesome goalie. He's exactly what an average NHL goalie looks like; especially on a terrible team that gives him no help at all.

We have been immensely spoiled for the last 25 years with goalies. Even the "worst" guy, Biron, was still pretty good.

When everybody but Jack, and Kane to an extent, regress it's kind of hard to point the finger at one guy and say "he sucks" or "he's why they're not winning". Aside from the obvious ones that have had any kind of expectations and have never been good for us like Gorges and Bogo.

Exactly. Can totally see Snow trading for a forward because he's Garth Snow.

I completely disagree.
I think people are stuck on the finality of goals that go in and who to blame and then say things like he gets no help. Getting beat and just flat out beating yourself are two different things.
Even an average nhl goalie is able to track the play, move laterally, and keep their torso upright and facing the play. These are all basic fundamentals and he does none of them well or even average for that matter.
If you just watch him play in all situations regardless if theres even a scoring chance or a shot on goal you have to be able to see this.
It doesnt matter how big he is if he cant stay squared to the play it does no good. Every goalie in the league is the same size when theyre flat on their faces sprawled out making upside down snow angels all the time. He has zero balance.
He constantly isnt even on the right angle even on one on one shot attempts and it only gets worse after the puck gets moved. One cross ice pass and he is left diving trying to make a save, and if he does it all of a sudden looks highlight reel like when most goalies make it look routine because it is and should be via sound fundamentals.
And... Of course... Lehner sucks.

Hate to point this out, but kane has regressed.

Points are down the past dozen or so games compared to the beginning of the year.

Lehner is not the sabres future goalie.

He's helping us lock into a top draft pick, keep him until we are definitely picking top 5.

Then send him packing

Post from my brother! 🤔🤔

Note to the Buffalo Sabres. Look at what the Las Vegas team is doing.. sitting in first place in their division.. How did they get there? they are an expansion team! .. i think the bullpoop of tanking, building.. should come to an end. dump the roster, buy, trade whatever , just find players that want to win. the Fans of this Team deserve better from Pegula .. Charging those prices to watch the poopshow every night, year after year is unconscionable .

Why would the 2nd highest scoring team in the league be desperate for scoring?
- Cptmjl

They wanna try to convince Tavares to stay

They’re out of a playoff spot, and if they can’t get better defense or goaltending, then adding another scorer would help

How can adding another good player hurt?

When teams are trading for players,
they focus on the upside & what they’re good at

Kane’s value has gone UP
Botts isn’t asking for MORE bc no one is interested

But they wouldn't be desperate for him, certainly not enough to give up a potential lottery pick I don't think.

yeah but it's highly doubtful trading for evander kane is what convinces Tavares to stay.

Ultimately I think he wants to stay either way.

Why is it “highly doubtful” though?

Bringing in a good player will do nothing but help
Whether that’s Kane or JvR or Carlson or whoever...

it doesnt make sense to give up major assets for a pending free agent to convince someone to stay.

If it needs to get to that point you've got bigger problems.

Nice. I cant for the life of me understand how anyone couldnt at this point though. Its so painfully obvious how atrocious he is. Id bet he isnt even in the league 2 years from now... Should be sooner.

They do have bigger problems
But trading for Kane shows Tavares they want to try & win NOW...
not in the future

And obviously they’d want to sign Kane if they traded for him

Yeah...
the Isles do have bigger problems
Like figuring out what they can do so that Tavares will stay

What would u do to convince him?

Gotta show him the bigger picture. It's not so much about just this year, he wants to know that the 8 years he spends here will be good to him.

They've gotta pitch whatever plan they have for the future and hope Tavares likes what he hears. I gotta think the belmont thing helps though
