outclassed
- Michael Pachla

Post of the SEASON, right here.

Everything that *could have* gone our way, didn't.

As yet, the genius who was supposed to extract the underlying skill from all our underperforming stars, hasn't. The game plan leaves us OUTCLASSED.

As yet, the genius who was supposed to surgically remove the diseased tissue and pump in all new health has Scandella, Beulieau, Pomminville, Tennyson, Griffith, Pouliot, Jordan Nolan, Jacob Josefson, and Scott Wilson as his doorbusters. Call them "low risk," if that's how you want to try to make them sound smart. I'll call them UNDERWHELMING. The talent leaves us OUTCLASSED.

There are a few really good players on this team. But there are too many nags. I'll continue to wait. I know the trade deadline is still coming. And maybe there is a plan to let the floodgates open and to completely overhaul this roster somehow.

But for all the criticism GMTM got for blockbuster trades that brought back controversial returns, you gotta give him credit that you could at least argue there were returns. Botterill has at least 10 players he imported up there, there are probably more I am not thinking about. Maybe Scandella has done OK. Maybe Poulliot has been alright. Pomminville is certainly a nice guy. But other than that, can anybody argue that any of those players is more than just an interchangeable plug and play that you, me, gerbe, or beady could have brought in?

I am still hoping for the best, but so far I have seen nothing. So far all I see is OUTCLASSED.

Fair enough

Is there any impass over $$$ or would JT be signed by now for 100mil or whatever?

Why isn’t JT signed yet?

Well we got the arena deal which I'm sure had something to do with the delay but at this point I think he is waiting to see which way this team is headed. He did say he is happy with the direction of the team so who really knows at this point? I guess he is just keeping his options open....

All valid and reasonable.
From his standpoint, why not wait for free agency, see whats out there and maximize his return be it from the isles or someone else. Cant blame him for essentially buying stock in himself.

I thought so.

I was wrong.

Too much suck for the few talented players to carry.

It feels like every interview by a player on this team admits they don't do what it takes to win.

With Housley, I don't want to believe he is incompetent. His worthless interviews, and lack of anything on the bench suggests he is in cruise crontol.

JBotts probably has a poster of Dahlin taped on the ceiling over his bed.

Russ Brandon refills his WPB ocean side infinity pool with cash from buffalo weekly

Yep but with that said the islanders will most likely offer him more than any other team. He won't leave Long Island because of money. It'll be because he doesn't think they can win in the near future.

Mark Pysyk says ROAR!

I didn’t watch the game yesterday but saw the postgame interviews and I think there is an unresolved question about heavy hockey.

I don’t know the answer, and maybe it’s really a question of properly defining “heavy hockey.” Is it really just a character thing in my mind. Skill ain’t enough. Effort ain’t enough. Skill and effort is heavy.

The players seem to have all the answers in the post game press conference as to why they suck during the game but , still can't figure out how to win.

Theyre currently in the process of waiving/trading/making an extra forward out of all the -son(s)

Girgen-
Lars-
Moul-
Wil-

Once that's done, they're half way to rebuilding the bottom 6

Because they suck hard. We have no depth scoring, and none of these guys can "fill in" with a top-6 role.

This team needs more Pouliots (i.e. guys on good contracts who meet or exceed their contract value).

There's no doubt the top 6 needs work too. But the scrubs on the bottom 6 gotsta gooooo

The bottom six is not even in my mind right now that can be easily fixed in free agency or other

The top 6 you have two people that are producing and one is going to be gone jack ,Kane

The defense is trash , goaltenders are trash , Your star players are trash bottom six is trash ( but that can easily be fixed )

If their not trying to mess with Rochacha, then who is going to fill the spots for the rest of the season?

I don't see a lot of changes other than maybe Kane and Lehner, coming until this summer

Yup.

The top 6 is gonna need an influx of talent.

Next year, I see 3 guys from this year still in the top 6 - Eichel, ROR and Okposo (I personally don't see him getting moved for a bunch of reasons).

Pominville (due to contract) and Erod will be back in the bottom six.

That's 4 spots in the bottom six to overhaul, which is a relatively easy fix
