3 actually. Lehner is RFA, and Scandella has term left. But thanks for coming out
- Pegullaville

Wasn't sure if you were kidding?
Apparently not.

Rfa is considered an expiring contract. Restricted or not, his contract is ending.

On paper it’s a 1st, 3rd and a prospect. Slim to none chance the team that trades for him resigns him. And the team would have to make the Eastern/Wetern conference final for the 3rd to turn into a 2nd. So best case scenario is a 1st, 2nd, defensive prospect, roster player which is most likely a marginal player with limited upside apart from rounding out the defense corps.
- Pegullaville

you said a first and an a rated prospect though...

its definitely ending, 4m QO for him as an RFA....yikes. He gets moved but no one is qualifying him.

The 4 mil isn't a problem if you're playing him as a fringe starter.

Sometimes you use a second to get Deslauriers, sometimes you get Guhle

or Fasching
or Gorges

- jcragcrumple

Or Hurley
Or Karabacek
Or Cornel

Ugh

If you’re gonna miss on a 2nd rounder,
at least do it on a defenseman
Bc teams will still trade for him thinking he could still develop
When u take a forward that high & he doesn’t pan out, it’s just a blown pick with no hope of getting a return

You said a 1st, A rated defense prospect, A roster player and a 3rd that could turn into another 1st or a 2nd. That GM should prob be fired

the UFA goalie market this offseason is really slim pickings so maybe if a team needs a short term fix, he might have value there

Someone may resign him if they are looking to draft near the top of the 2019 nhl draft.

Decent stop gap if you've got a young goalie coming through or trying to run a 1a/1b set up.

what is the hopes for him...a 2nd rounder? DOnt think you can get that 1st round pick in value back

I get his logic behind it, I just don't think it actually happens to a degree that would make you say drafting d-men instead of bpa is better because that trade value is there.

Yes but pending an offer sheet Lehner would realistically be on the opening night roster the following season or traded for an asset like a 3rd or possibly a 2nd. So even if they move him for a third the team recoups two 3rd rounders and better possible playoff odds for a 2nd or a possible first round pick in the 25-30 range

Id be fine with a 2nd or some kind of prospect and a third. The true value would be in finding a cheaper short term guy while giving the keys to Ullmark

There might be a market still for lehner. Like you said, split duties.

If he isn't tendered and becomes a ufa, I could see ottawa calling. Anderson is not the answer.

So you are saying you might want to trade for Hammond if you move Lehner

he isnt QO even if a team that trades for him wants to resign him

Pens did that with J Shultz....he was too expensive based on all the money oilers gave him so they let him become a UFA to sign him at a cheaper rate

I know jarvis laundry isn't a buffalo Bills "new regime" guy, but he's having contract issues in miami. Feeling disrespected.

He's a target high player, good age for a free agent.

Bills may pass for attitude issues, but he could open up the offense. Give new qb a prime play making target

- Boss34

Landry's hit on Aaron Williams kills that idea IMO. Half the Bills still hate him for that hit.

If a legitimate playoff team loses their top goalie, maybe they would be willing to pay up.

I see the Sabres trading with Pittsburgh for 1 of there 3 young goalies. Maybe roll with 2 youngsters next year.

Ullmark and jarry ?

Jbotts knows these guys well from the baby pens

Griffin Reinhart went for a 1st well after he was known to be a bust

He was picked higher,
so maybe that example doesn’t work for my 2nd round point

I’m at work now,
but I’ll see if i can do some research & get back to you
