22 year old*

Reinhart (2nd), Dal Colle (5th), Virtanen (6th) are also all huge disappointments.

You are literally just looking at his draft position and assuming he’ll be great. Holy (frank)...

Boeser was a 23rd OV pick. But I forgot, no one good is ever drafted after pick 5.

- Steven_Seagull

Bennett has the same number of career goals as Nylander. And he doesn't have the luxury of playing with Matthews. He's still a top prospect, he's 21 (June must come in Janurary according to you).

Oh I see, your plan is to get a 23rd overall pick and pray to get lucky late in the 1st round of a weak draft.

He has a lower PPG than Brown, and this dumbass wants to trade JVR for him.
- Steven_Seagull

Two years younger, was playing in the NHL way before Brown. What does comparing him to Brown accomplish? Prove that we can add another very good, young prospect? You say it as if Brown sucks or that I don't like him.

Nice, can't have a discussion so go straight to attacks.

I thought his birthday was in January. My mistake.

Bennett, a top prospect? Like Robbie Earl?

Yes. That’s kinda the point of every draft pick ever. Hope your scouting staff knows what they’re doing, and you get lucky.

Or get a 21 year old who can play in the NHL right now, still have plenty of talent and potential and get lucky?

Like I said yesterday, the Leafs traded Steen at a time when he had 2 goals and 4 points in 20 games and thought he was a bust. Just because a player is struggling in his early 20s, doesn't mean he's a useless bust if you can identify his skill level doesn't reflect his numbers.

Brown is a 3rd liner. So is Bennett. Trading a multiple 30 goal scorer for a 3rd liner is terrible asset management.

Oh, you’re just trolling...I should’ve known. Every Leafs prospect is crap, and every other team’s trash are budding All-Stars.

I can see why this dumbass got the “UG treatment.”

Would be nice if the Leafs thread had a mod that could take care of this problem...

Brown is a 3rd liner based off ice time because Babcock has him but he's capable of more. He's better than Hyman. Certainly scores more than him. But Hyman's really a 1st liner because of his ice-time? Nah.

You're the one trying to say Brown is just a 3rd liner and crap, not me. I'd be happy to keep Brown and add more guys like Brown, especially when they're younger, more talented, bigger versions of him.

JVR should be traded for one...But no "Walker Lou" will just let him go for nothing July 1 like he did with players in NJ

Which is a shame because if they didn't sign Marleau, they'd have the space to keep him. But letting him walk for nothing is the stupidest thing they could do.

Having JVR walk July 1 is a fuked choice for a team who isn't a cup contender....Brutal..

That's why I'm saying, look at the Western Conference and find the teams willing to take our UFAs (maybe even resign them like Calgary so you can get more in return) and unload these guys and bring back young guys to add to our system.

how often do young teams set to gain playoff experience sell assets at the deadline? why does nobody do it? could it be a bad idea?

it really makes you think

Yep..Leafs cant keep JVR he would be the hot target between now and TD..This an opportunity for the Leafs to take a shot at fixing the mess they have on D..

1st round exit at the hands of the Boston Bruins, with or without JVR, Bozak and Komarov, still gives the important young guys experience. If anything, it gives them more ice time and more opportunity to learn.

They might keep JVR, just depends on how low they can get his number. If they can get him down to 5 years at 6 million, it might just squeeze him into the mix.

If not though, moving him out could help on D. Does Nashville give up Ryan Ellis for JVR? I hope so but I don't think so. But Nashville is another team that might take JVR for some good pieces. Fiala? Small and broke his femur last year. It's tough finding good matches.

Yes it's still playoff experience..Problem is many look at team and think they can win a cup with current group..With that D it's Not happening....

U dont have to get a D for JVR as many teams cant have his next contract but u can use his return in another deal..
