But they are 4 defenseman short of top 4 defenseman - BetweenTheDots
But 8 defensemen playing half as good as they should equals 4 top 4 defensmen. |

Leafs have 53 points - 45 Games and the Fan Base is thrilled
Hawks have 50 points - 45 Games and SB - Q need to be fired- Core is terrible - on and on and on and on.
Interesting stuff. - Colbyboy
Leafs blow the game to the Blues - give up a goal with a minute to go and then lose it in OT.
Just another reason why the Hawks won't make the playoffs - nobody in the Central loses. |

Crawford out, possibly for rest of season, with vertigo symptoms
https://chicago.suntimes....r-the-season-sources/amp/
Eerily reminiscent of Bickell, although just as likely post-concussion issues. - pdx2ord
WOW. Horrible news. I think this alone should push the Hawks to NOT be buyers, in the least. And if they falter more, I could see them become sellers and try to continue with the rebuild on the fly. |

Watching Vegas/Preds....It's truly amazing how good Vegas looks.
Predators fans are such idiots. I am not James Neal fan, but WHY are they booing him every time he touches the puck? The dude was left unprotected. It's not like he chose to leave there (which would be the only logical reason to single out a guy like that). Predators team is big league, their fans are still rookies. |

Well, best wishes to CC, hello LTIR, and another $6MM in cap space. Fix the problems up front on the offensive side, and the need for a shut down goalie for the playoffs declines in proportion.
Hard for the whiners to argue that LTIRng your season MVP is gaming the system.

Interesting that as online rumors begin to swirl that it's a substance abuse related absence, the Hawks guy Lazarus comes out with this article finally giving clarity on the injury.... |

I'm guessing that after Toews' weird wording started the speculation all over the place, they (and Corey) OK'ed the release of the info to quell the rumormongering.
Tough, considering he had this in 2016, too. What does it do to his long-term career. Bring back Darling! |

And apparently that one is not true either...
@therinkoffical
Elloitte Friedman says Crawford will be back and now Laz says possibly not because of "vertigo" symptoms. Sounds like a smokescreen they had 3 weeks to get in front of, and suddenly there are sources? |

Even Q said he thought Crow would be back before end of season. Think it was more Toews wording that opened up the rampant speculation and they didn't like the direction most of it was going. |

Vegas has that too. They win due to 60 minutes of hard work and effort though - ikeane
So do the Hawks, they only give 100% every other game |

Well, there you go. Hoping the best for Corey and he can get healthy.
This news is really unfortunate for this team, but maybe it's something they can get behind and go on a streak.
I think the best bet is to ride Forsberg to see if you have something there.
The uphill battle just got more steep. |

This team has experienced injuries in the past and other guys have stepped up (i.e. Shaw and Saad). I think Forsberg could do the same. Of course he's not at the same level as Crawford but I think #31 has the potential to be very very good. |

Midseason prospects report and rankings by Second City Hockey. Quick summary of top 10 which surprisingly includes 3 Russians:
1) Henri Jokiharju, D
2) Dylan Sikura, F
3) Ian Mitchell, D
4) Tim Soderlund, F
5) Lucas Carlsson, D
6) Chad Krys, D
7) Artur Kayumov, F
8) Andrei Altybarmakyan, F
9) Carl Dahlstrom, D
10) Ivan Nalimov, G
Jokiharju, Sikura, and Soderlund are the most exciting of this group, IMHO.
Next ten prospects (in alpha order, not rank order):
Evan Barratt, F
Collin Delia, G
Alexandre Fortin, F
Dennis Gilbert, D
Matthew Highmore, F
Roope Laavainen, D
Fredrik Olofsson, F
Ville Pokka, D
Luc Snuggerud, D
Joni Tuulola, D
Don't think Pokka should be part of the top prospects group anymore. With him, though, there are 4 Finnish blueline prospects. I'd guess at least Jokiharju is an eventual Blackhawk and one of either Laavainen or Tuulola making a case as a depth d-man along with Dahlstrom (Swede).
Second City Hockey projects Jokiharju as a possible #2. I could see Carlsson being in a similar mold as Hjalmarsson. There is also reference to how Mitchell idolizes Keith. He has the skill, but skill alone didn't elevate Keith to Norris caliber. Being a gym freak helped put Keith at an unreal level. For now at least, Mitchell is thriving at Denver and carving a niche as a PP specialist as a freshman. |

I agree about Forsberg - but if theyāre going to hope for positive results the rest of the season, theyāre going to have to do a much better 5-skater job oprotecting him than they generally have - suppressing shots and stopping more shots from getting to the net - fewer shots on the slot.... |

People on here referring to Hawks as DLine sellers
Who would they be selling?
Be careful what you wish for. Most of this Board considered Crawford over paid two years ago and now heās our MVP |
