I am far from being part of Falwell's moral majority and I am totally fine with porn and porn stars, but he essentially was harassing porn stars trying to get a hookup. The optics look bad, for a marketing driven team.
My take other than that is I don't see how he's such an improvement over the guys we do have. - kwolf68
Liking pornstarts is fine.
Harassing them, or anyone really, not fine. |

Del Zotto was terrific in Goon 2. In fact, its what I based my scouting off of.
I'm going to pull the trigger on getting him.

Oh hell no. LOL. People should be free to do what they want as long as no harm is done. If you dig porn, date porn stars and that's the type of women you like (ones with fake tits that bang 100s of men) by all means go for it. But it seems Del Zotto was harassing one porn start trying to get her to set him up with other porn stars. LOL |

And probably even MORE than that if a deal with the Hawks were to go down. Sakic doesn't want to send him to a divisional rival. Hell, isn't Colorado ahead of Chicago? Why would the Lanche want to sell? Try to make a run with their young team. Probably wouldn't last lo i hsvrn't followeedllng in the playoffs, but why not go for it, put fannies in the seats and build for the future. I think Barrie should be a core piece. - kwolf68
Always have to ask why a team wants to trade a talented player. Barrie has a good shot which he beat Chicago with as the skate off winner a few times. What else does he offer. Third pair, weak second pair guy? He has been around the block a few times and had never blossomed, albeit never benefited from a solid partner pairing nor was he on winning teams (not lately anyway). I am not sure because i haven't followed his career closely. Doesn't sort of suck defensively? I could envision Forsling - who also has a nice shot but not likely as great as Barrie'd - developing into a second pair down the road. Not so with Barrie. DConga or similar blog from Avalanche feel free to correct any misconception about Barrie. But I think I am pretty much calling it how it is. |

The Blackhawks are breaking the scales on all of my charts because they've been ridiculously good at entering the zone with control & historically bad at defending their own blue line. Not sure how much of it is small sample size or if this is what they are. (Probably both). |

Justin so Bowman would get a pass if the hawks don't make the playoffs? To me he more to blame for this mess than coach Q. Bad trades bad contacts bad drafting and he gets a pass why because MCdough has love affair with the bowman's. He is the one that put this flawed team together missing a top rw/lw top 4 d man traded one away for we don't know yet(murphy) who to me might be a top 4 missing 2 centerman playing wiggles out of position and Hartman to until kamp came up and still not enough size. Yes coach Q is at fault also obviously he responsible for getting the team ready and getting the most out of the players and he has not done that. Time to clean house!! Like to hear your thoughts and what you would do if you were in Wirtz and MCdough shoes."
I heard it's Quenneville that will be the fall-guy
.
Honestly, as long as the Hawks have Scotty Bowman sitting in Tampa Bay, available at any time to offer advice, not just to Stan, but to the Hawks management team... the Bowman's will reign. - Justin Lowe
So hawks management keeps the gm that screwed this team up just because of Bowman's name?

Not everyone thinks he screwed the team up. Most hockey people likely don't either. |

Will this pro con Bowman never end. Geez. Yes he made some good and some bad moves. Some moves were forced and he could have come out better. They were forced due to salary cap in some examples. He moved Sharp at the right time, big contract and all. Johns is never going to be great, he has faults and one had been injuries btw. I just mention this one trade because maybe he held out for too much then settled on trade in the end. We Don't really know and no one involved is going to tell you
Stan made some good moves last summer. The scouts identified first round talent past few years, but drafting late they took players who are soft non physical players. I am not trying to support Bowman, in fact he has made a few too many errors in my judgement. The testy relationship with Q has made him look worse. I just think McDonough gives him some rope and if it makes you happy, then predict he will hang his job by the decisions forthcoming. But the man is not clueless, and I am not going to be surprised either way he stays or goes not likely this summer but maybe later. |

I would think the Crawford “injury” is more than just a snowmobile accident. (putting aside how DUMB that is to do in the first place, in the middle of a season)
If it was “just” a snowmobile accident with a concussion, as much as it would embarrass McD and Stan to say so publicly, I would think they WOULD make that clear to the fans.
If it’s an alcohol/drug abuse issue, that relates to CC private life, I can see/understand why they’d want to be silent.
As far as play on the ice, going forward, even with CC at his best, this team, as constructed, is not a Cup contender, IMO. Can he steal a playoff series? Sure. But this team may not even qualify for the tournament.
Does dealing CC (if he agrees to be moved) make this team better? Not in the short term, that’s obvious. As, neither Forsberg or Glass has shown they’re capable of playing full time–yet.
If they trade CC then we’ll know for sure the rebuild is under way….because there is no top shelf goaltender in the system ready to take over. And, as Eddie O always says, if you ain’t got goaltending, you haven’t got a chance. |

John Dietz
Toews on his reaction when finding out about Crawford injury: "We're always concerned about our teammates first and then our team second. ... He'll do what he can to get himself better, so he can get back to playing and get back and help our team when he knows how to."
and an article with same quote:

It may be difficult to trade a player who can give a list of teams he vetoes playing there. Only a few teams at most each year change their #1. There had been scuttlebutt moving to the frozen Winnipeg tundra but now Helybucyk has nixed that. |

I really like our chances come playoff time guys, even if we're a lower seed which is probably going to be the case. We've got a lot of the key tools needed to win in the post season. One more addition via trade would be nice, obviously. |

Hawks are last in the division with more games played than every team they are competing with for the Wild Card spots..... |

But they are only 9 points out of first, that shows how tight the central division is. The whole division could easily flip flop by the end of the season. |

This team would need to play 10 games over 500 the rest of the season just to sniff the playoffs. |

2 losses took them from WC2 to last place in the division. Playoff battle is going to be a bloodbath until the last day. |

LOL well played. What's your plan of action the next 7 months if you're running the Hawks? - EnzoD
Just my opinion - I don’t think they could make a “buyer’s move” that wou make them appreciably better - Cup-quality better - between now and the TDL.
Especially if Crawford doesn’t come back this year, or if he comes back late but doesn’t play like he did before Christmas.
I would neither a buyer nor a seller be. If some GM want Sharp, or Bouma or Jurco, etc. for some number of draft picks, ok.
Otherwise - I play out the string with this group - really evaluate the individuals on it - INCLUDING the like of Toews, Seabrook, Keith, Anisimov - and see where things are at the draft and FA signing date.
The evaluation piece is the most important activity between now and the draft, I think - they need to no as surely as possible what the have - what’s left in the “core”, how close are the youngsters to being Cup-worthy performers (if all or any are), what’s ready on the farm to come up next fall.... |
