Myers at 27 is on the decline and Enstrom at 31 is having a bounce back season? Myers has a team friendly contract and wants to be here. Wow, Rexypoo!!! Just wow!
- TheUltimateJet

I would describe a 27 year old whose performance has been trending down upon returning from multiple career threatening injuries as in decline, yes.

I would also describe a 33 year old whom has been very slow in his decline having a great season in response to an uncharacteristicly Bad one last year, which we know now is likely due to fatigue and off ice distractions, to be relatively steady. His offence has faded, but his defence has actually improved over the last few seasons. On the whole? Yes, he’s slowly winding down. But Toby is still top 4.

What about a hockey trade like

Trouba

for

OEL, Schenn and a pick.

Even though I don't know if Trouba would sign in Arizona. Who knows though.

- manvanfan

I wouldn’t touch Schenn with a 10 foot pole

Only been saying it since two summers ago but Nurse for Trouba still makes sense. The gap between their abilities has closed with Nurse's development this year but Trouba is still ahead.
- MaximumBone

It’s still not close enough to be possible. You’d have Nurse playing his off side on the bottom pairing here.

No to Gardiner ... OEL - maybe
.
Not an elephant but the question is the right question - does Troubs want to sign long term with Jets ? ... and, of course, at what cost ? ... I could live easily with:

Morrissey - Byf
OEL - Myers
Kulikov - Poolman

Or some combination of the above ... in the wings you have Chariot, Enstrom (if he extends for pennies), and the next wave of youngsters down the line - Niku,Stanley

I'd much rather keep Troubs and shop others around at a later date ... I'd way much rather keep everyone for what is hopefully a decent playoff run

Myers like the team started poorly but since a crap start to the season has been getting better and better. Myers is playing his best hockey in years and you saying that he is declining is not accurate at all. Right now he is as solid a 3-4 defense man as there is in the league.

I endorse this statement except Tobi will not be had for pennies he will make close to 4 millions on the open market if he doesn't go back to Sweden.

And let me add: what we could benefit mostly from is a solid, productive, 2-way, centreman - at this time ... if ya wanna make a move to improve the team NOW then that should be the move
.
So - hockey trade: RNH/Oilers ? ... ROR/Sabres ? ... Rask/canes ? ... Barkov/Panthers ? ... as I'm listing these I feel like I'm pissing into the wind ... but what the hell, it's -41C windchill ... probably freeze before it hits me back

You could live with OEL as your second pairing dman? Lol

That’s a tough pill to swallow 🙄

Maybe in the offseason but whatever return they got this year would weaken their D. Replacing Trouba with Poolman on the right side is a lot bigger downgrade than whoever you'd get to replace Toby on the left side.

He’s piling up secondaries because of his company. He’s an absolute disaster in our zone, and he’s practically useless in any situation that isn’t the #2 PP.

He’s only a top 5 dman on the planet. I’m not sure you can trust him with anything past the 2nd pairing.

Well stated. Myers would be a 1-2 on most teams but on a stacked Jets D he is a 3-4. He is playing fabulous hockey right now. He is very dominant.

If Trouba can be resigned then you do everything in your power to trade Byfuglien. If Trouba wants out then you trade him. That simple. Sure is alot of Myers bashing for a guy whos playing really quite well.

Big Buff's contract is just to much....nobody will trade for him unless

the same type of contract(s) are going back...always liked him but

Holy Sheeeeet 7.6M for 3 more seasons beyond this one at 32 almost 33
