Hard to deny that they have made a lot of boneheaded decisions, but they could have believed that Kizer was their guy in the draft last year and it didn't pan out.

Now they have a chance to take one of the many QBs.

For their sake, I hope they don't completely screw it up.

I know you can always play the "what if game" but when you get 1st overall, you take a QB as it seems that is a position you really need help in.

Yes there are bad years for QB's but what about all the other busts that happen in the first round? If you miss on a QB, I am 100% OK with that. If your top 5 pick (non QB) is a bust, I am 100% angry.

After trading away the 1st overall a couple years ago (Wentz), they need to take a QB at 1. No question about it. Dont be afraid to take the wrong guy, they need to.

On a side note, I said this to a friend and he laughed at me but later in the night ended up agreeing. If you dont have a top QB, you should take one with your 1st round pick every year until you do (unless you have one that you feel could get you there, then you can skip that year). No other position means more. Let's take the Browns for instance, last year they took the "no brainer" top DE on the board, and went 0-16. If they took any of the top 3 QB's on the board, I think they win at least one game, if not more. Having a top end Defensive player means absolutely nothing without the QB. They will never win enough games each year to make it worth it (unless you already have a top QB). (I know Browns are a bad example as they are always bad)

GMs would never do it because they need to “win now” or are fired. Kind of sets QBs up for failure too. Get one year and they are already being replaced. Some QBs take a couple years, in this case you would of drafted two more already. Only one gets to play. Reason why it never happens. Not to mention all the other positions you just neglected for years.

I think it's a bit of a grey area. The term "black quarterback" isn't used much anymore. Most black quarterbacks are now refered to as "mobile quarterbacks," and there's an understanding what that means. Mobile QBs aren't protected like pocket passers, that's just a fact

QBs coach Ken Dorsey was also let go. Shula had been with the Panthers since 2011 -- all of Cam Newton's career -- and the offensive coordinator since 2013, but this is hardly a surprise. The passing game consistently struggled during his tenure and took another step back this season. Even though the rushing numbers look good because of Cam Newton, the running game also struggled in 2017, with Jonathan Stewart and Christian McCaffrey combining for 1,115 yards on 315 carries (3.5 YPC). It was time for a change, but a new coordinator will not help much if the Panthers fail to add some weapons on the outside.
