training wheels wingers? - bulet13
Basically lol. Raffl has just been a great possession winger his entire career. Patrick has struggle from a possession standpoint thus far, so pairing him with Raffl is ideal Imo.
My take on Patrick is that he is still recovering from the off-season surgeries. He's gotten better but you can see he lacks explosiveness. I'm no doctor but from what I've read Patrick's surgery recovery is similar to the the surgeries ghost and giroux had in 2015.we saw their struggles last year, and Patrick is trying to deal with getting fully healthy while making the huge jump from junior to Nhl. We just need to be patient.
All that said, I don't think Patrick is ready for 2C duties. And he may not be until next year which is fine. He has shown flashes so far of just how special he can be so I'm not really concerned at the moment. Giving Patrick better wingers than Raffl would essentially be asking him to play 2C so that's why I say Raffl is perfect for now |

They've already replaced him with Weal.
The one thing Patrick has been doing quite well is distributing the puck. Raffl just can't convert good passes into quality scoring chances. It's not a good fit. |

Just got home from work, see that the reports of Neuvirth's demise were premature. What else did I miss? |

Couts 22 goal on PP
Ghost scored with Lehtera getting second assist
And apparently Amac is a legitimate top 4 d man
so nothing unusual |

Coots and G are the best duo since BJ and the Bear.
Ghost doing his thing.
Kind of uneventful otherwise. Things getting a little testy between the whistles. |

Boring first.
Sabers took the lead
GHost with a great shot to tie it.
Giroux with a perfect flip pass to Coots who buried it for the lead. |

Lazy penalty by Amac. He is nothing but a bottom pairing D man. - Buzzo
Little bit of a weak call there. MacDonald is the only bottom pairing defenseman to average 19-20 minutes a game for like 6 straight seasons.

Glad to see them ahead at least. They have no wiggle room at this point, games like this are must win games. |

That says just as much about the teams he has played on as it does about him. |

Before today's game in the last 15 games, Raffl has been scoring at a 27 goal, 27 assist, 54 point pace. That has been a boost to the Flyers and their need for secondary scoring.

What is says is that he is a reliable top 4 NHL defenseman and has been pretty much his entire career.

No that is, as you love to say, a false narrative. What it says is that on mediocre bubble teams, he is a solid top 4 Dman. On a top notch contending team, he's skating on the 3rd pair. |
