They have some very good prospects as well. - VANTEL
nylander, middlestadt, bastion are all VERY strong. guhle looks good, but liek the Canucks they haven't paid enough attention to their back end. Traded Zadorov who is pretty good. Love Orielly and eichel up the middle, they need goalie and d and they will be in great shape. |

LA found a #1 Goalie, a #1 center and a franchise D man in the draft. That's for sure the start of a winning team. - manvanfan
For sure you need that above to be a great team. That is the balance the other so called tanking teams that have done squat do not have. How often do you hear beginning of every season how good Buffalo, Canes, Avs etc are with their young talent. Oilers and Laffs haven't proven anything with their generational players as well.
Takes a lot more to build a winner then just finishing in the bottom drafting BPA. The nuance of what it takes is lost over the desperate need for drafting high picks. Anyway, hope Canucks continue with some more quality picks this draft to develop into future core. |

Andersen is a great goalie, that was a very schrewd pickup made possible by stockipiling draftpicks by selling older players for multiple years and flipping some for a player like that. I do think Toronto has done a great job. Buffalo needs a goaltender. Canes and Avs are currently a couple points out, so you don't really have a leg to stand on there, they look like legit teams.
Were I some kind of anti-tanker, I'd point at Boston who has managed to restock their shelves and stay somewhat competitive. But I'm not, so let's go get another top5 pick!! |

Tanev + EG --> Islanders
Calgary's pick + Kieiffer Bellows --> Canucks
just the ticket! - SlightlyOffside
I like it but if you are putting out Tanev, a D commodity hard to get without paying high, then Barzal is the add on return.
Isles would rather have OEL but you don't see Yotes making him available. Their window for JT is now and futures that they have in spades are expendable. They also have centers like Bailey playing wing that can fill in for roster loss. |

Im kind of surprised to see not a single person want to make that deal but I'm glad we have a consensus - NorthNuck
JV is a poor draft pick but he is still a player we need. He also has more upside imo. I know Duclair had 20 goals but I’m not a fan personally |

Barzal is as likely to move as Boeser. 0% chance of that. Even Bellows could be a stretch, seeing as he just set the US hockey record for goals in the WJC. |

Anderson is a good goalie. I wouldn't say great.
I see us competing in 2 years once Edler and the Twins are gone and our younger guys have more experience. |

You are right they are not looking to move him. Why would they he was a great return for a D that wasn't working out. Notice the gap on D issues. The difference between your comparison for Canucks and Isles is they can't afford to lose JT. He is Bo and BB combined and then some for that team. His loss will set them back years.
That is why Barzal is expendable as he's not the face of their franchise to move tickets. I know a lot of Islander insiders and for the right deal they would do it. That's the difference here. Not saying it is happening but when desperation meets opportunity GM's bite the bullet. Hate to bring up the Hall for Larson example but it fits the mold of what becomes expendable vs value and future gain. |
