If we don’t get Dahlin i trade down if Svechnikov is on the board. Rather take Boqvist Tkachuk or Zadina. No fan of Russian wingers.
- Nighthawk

Im leaning that way myself. We need defense badly. To trade back get an asset and boqvist is a win win

So the lunchbucket group wins Gold...good on them, they played well as a team for the games I watched in this tournament.

Carol Schram: Pettersson, Gadjovich face off for gold; Demko, Boucher named AHL All-Stars
Vancouver Canucks prospects Elias Pettersson and Jonah Gadjovich will face off on Friday for the gold medal at the 2018 World Junior Championship while farmhands Thatcher Demko and Reid Boucher have been named to the AHL's All-Star Classic, which will be played on their home ice in Utica in late January.

What leftovers?

Take a look at the free agent list there are dozens of players that can be reasonably signed that back check have speed and don't have to be signed as a pair. They can also be traded at TDL.

What do you have against moving out of the bottom 5 ?

- VANTEL

Any pair of players who can put up 40 to 50 points will cost more them the twins will. Unless we roll the dice on more Gagner types.

Bang for buck the twins will be the best deal in free agency for the canucks next year.

You already have Bo Sutter and probably will have either Pettersson or Gaudette as a third center. Why do you need to bring back Hank?

So you're suggesting gifting a rookie a spot rather then letting them develop in the ahl?

This preseason, specifically, Benning created competition for spots, IMO Brock earned his spot, nothing was gifted to him. Perhaps in years past this was the case, but not this year.

Next year I would expect the same for any rookies coming to camp, Pettersson, Gaudette and company.

Horvat came into camp three years ago and earned a bottom spot, they sheltered him his first year and let him develop his game at the NHL level. His second year they threw him to the wolves out of necessity but he handled it and kept growing as a player.

True, but going with the lineup vantel suggested would almost force a rookie onto the team. Plus they'd still be unwatchable... worse then this year even ....

I totally agree with this, but I also agree with Pressy, if the twins want to play another season the Canucks won’t be able to do any better in free agency to replace their production. Their play wasn’t even a topic of consternation before Sutter/Horvat we’re hurt. In a supporting role, they could be very good still.

Spot on. Look forward to more young talent earning a spot on the roster and developing their NHL games like the others.

They could do both. Bring Sedins back for one year, and allow youth to force their way onto the team. If Gaudette, for instance shows he is ready, he could play on the wing, like Gaunce has until a spot opens up, or he forces one.

If they re-up them for a year it's not the end of the world, but I'd rather they find another solution.

If the young talent doesn’t prove ready and there are no deals or other UFA’s that are a better fit then Sedins could be a good last minute option for a year. Like Jager as UFA’s don’t have to pull them in until camp or even after.

Flexible and devoted to long term team success they could coordinate with management and coaching. It might unfold that way where they are phased out during the season. Like they take an “injury” period where a couple young bucks prove their game more and give the sign to play them out.

I hate Kool-Aid, reminds me of that time uncle...

If you are referring to my Sedin comment, i want them to retire. I understand that if they don’t want to retire, the club WILL sign them, purely for PR reasons, especially after what happened with Doan. BUT, based on their seasons so far, I would much rather bring back the twins then sign more guy like Gagner.

No it was the wine comment.

As for the Sedins, we don't get a choice, the Sedins are the ones that will decide.

We all know next year will be another transition/development/throwaway year anyways, why not have 2 players loyal to the team and city not to mention swedish heroes around to help Pettersson with the transition to the NHL?

It's not like any other players filling that role will have any meaningful impact on the teams future anyways.

I'm sure assistant gm Daniel will want to sign Henrik but I don't think assistant president Henrik will agree to lowball Daniel.

You... better then Chaput and Dowd being fixtures in the lineup.
Give guadette and Peterson a year to develop or prove they belong. If one of of them forces their way into the team then sit Chaput as the 5th center.
Being back the twins for one year, bring back Benning for 3 more years. Bring back TL for for more years. Resign edler for five more years
