Price isn't even the unequivocally best goalie in the league and now at 10.5 mil until he's almost 40? Yeesh! You can keep him. - MaximumBone
That superstar Talbot is doing a wonderful job fulfilling his Stanley Cup contender expectations, Price at 40 will still be better than Talbot in his prime |

Untradable in my opinion.
I can't imagine many GM's believe in having that kind of Cap Hit on their books for a player who can't score. - classic321

I think this makes Winnipeg a legitimate cup contender. Winnipeg would have to sacrifice Laine for a real shot at the cup. Then Montreal tanks to draft as high as possible. - andrest

I'm surprised he never added Scheifele and Wheeler in there as well. |

I realize Ek created good click bait. But let's be honest. The second that 10.5 Shmill contract was handed out, he became immovable. |

Sure? Though that's not relevant.
Your post is merely an attempted ad homenim attack that doesn't begin to address the argument I raised in my post. Does Talbot's perceived ability/inability to be backstop a team to a Cup prove that Price's contract isn't bad, that he IS unequivocally the best goalie in the league and that he's worth much of anything in a trade? Nope.
All your point did is make it clear that you- and likely many others- are out of touch with the cause of Oilers' struggles. If the PK wasn't producing historically awful results at home, his numbers would be around where he's been his entire career (average to above average starter). |

Ok these trade offers are terrible and 99% have no chance in happening. First off not many teams are going to trade major young stars or a talent pool that would take 5 years of good drafting to build to land carey price its just not happening. Im sure there 5 to 8 teams that would love to have price but not for these asking prices. The problem is they have to suck up a long term contract that will most likely go past his prime years and at a god awful yearly salary. Dont get me wrong price is one of if not the best in the league when on his game. If his contract was 3 or 4 years at 6-7 million a year you would have a chance at landing some of these offers maybe. And the fact that price as showed signs of slipping already this season isnt a good sign and a red flag for teams. Now give it he is playing with one of the worst D cores in hockey.
And lets give it up on galchenyuk trade rumours for the love of god! For the last time hes not a major talent thats going to land you game changer players. At best he gets you another failed early pick but more then likely a third round pick and a depth prospect. He shows small flashes on offense and is probably the worst positional player on defence I'm the league when his team doesnt have the puck. He makes phil kessel look like scott stevens and without nearly as great a shot and offensive talent.
Thanks for the pipe dreams and the glimmer of hope for habs fans and the article did its job and got some discussion flowing. Keep up the the entertaining articles Ek. |

What is going on. Who would honestly wants Price. No team would honestly give up anything of value for price. You should never pay a goalie that much. HE will 31 when is contract starts up. Sure goalies can play longer but i would not want to risk that much of the cap for goalie who has had injury problems.
Trade I can see is team needs goalie help which is really not goalie market right now.
So I can Oilers because their GM is an idiot.
Price for Lucic, Talbot and 2nd in 2019. You will have to back alot of salary to make it worth it. I thought paying Lucic that much for that long was dumb from day one. |
