You know if my boss came up to me two years in a row I would be smart enough to know things aren't working out and I would be looking for a new boss. - VANTEL
Injuries do that. Useless when not there. |

They signed him 5.5 months ago where they had most likely already gone through discussions of what Gudbranson wanted over short and long term contracts. Since then he has played 27 of the team's 40 games. I would bet the discussions with the agent were along the lines of "do you think his stock has improved?" to get a sense if the agent has moved from last year's numbers.
To me, writing is on the wall - he's gone. The team doesnt even deploy him in a top 4 role so it would be insane to pay him as such - WhiteLie
I fully believe they are moving him but they are playing with fire by not moving him sooner than later. If he re-injures himself then he walks for free. As you said he has missed 13 of 40 games and an injury riddled year the year before so it is not unrealistic to think he could be injured again before TDL |

I’m betting JB is working the best deal he can. Cannot give him away afer all. |

It won't happen quick with JB being micromanaged. |

You are right, they are currently risking future injury but I also think 2 things are slowing any deal:
1) Gudbranson needs to up his value - his body of work the past 2 seasons (57 games) has been disappointing for VAN and himself, the team wants to salvage a decent return and EG needs to position himself for his payday
2) There is little separation in the standings - to me this affects how interested buyers are, as well as VAN's consideration of draft pick values. The team should do its best to not take a mediocre offer; play hardball until their demands are met, a benchmark has been set in another deal, or its the final hour before the deadline |

You will get more value if his agent can broker a new deal with a new team, that alone takes time. Not being in contact with his camp is not helping anyone. I'm not sure JB's the guy in trade talks anyway, it could be TL and FA. |

Trevor from yesterday.
And will Gudbranson be moved or signed any time soon?
• “We haven’t really had discussion on re-signing him yet. And obviously we have been in contact with his agent throughout the year. And we in a situation right now where we will see how these next six or eight weeks unfold.”
How have you not had a discussion but yet talk to his agent? What do you talk to them about ? Good strip clubs? Deals on Sun glasses?
Secondly Why have you not discussed any contract talks? Time is ticking ! - VANTEL
Nothing has changed, they likely left an offer on the table or have already decided to move him and just aren't going to say as much publicly.

Gudbranson has only played 27 games since their last negotiation, they have been in contact with his agent so I dont think it is a big deal they havent done more hard negotiations at this point. I am sure other teams are already aware of his demands, the hockey world is quite small and his agency is one of hockey's most prominent |

Yup. Aquilini & Linden will (frank) it up.
I'm not a Benning fan but I fear that if they let him go things are going to get worse. |

Yes its called stability. Continuous changes are never wise. I’m with others thinking EG/JB have negotiated their stances in the preseason. Its a lil early to see a trade but in the couple weeks it will heat up for real. |

Moving him takes time to broker the right deal - in the meantime what do you expect them to do? Healthy scratch him so he won't risk another injury? That'll be great for his trade value... |

Looking forward to when Gudbranson gets traded, guy is a bum.
Gudbranson traded, Dorsett out permanently due to injury, should make this team so much more fun too watch, why would we want any of those types of trashy players.
Play the youth, let them develop on the Canucks.
Come on Jim/Trevor what are you waiting for. |

Linden said they would look to extend Boeser this Summer. What do you think his comparables will be? I'm thinking something along the line of the Pastrnak contract in Boston would make sense (6 years, $40M) |

You're right, Pastrnak wasn't nearly as good as Boeser in his rookie year. Pastrnak was younger though. Boeser keeps this up and he'll make more than Pastrnak. |

IF BB keeps up his first half pace in the second half it’s going to be interresting if Canucks offer long term over short term because the ask will be very high at 42 goals and 80 points. Like a here’s the money for market value now but prove it again if you want it at long term. Risk being goes higher then that if he does better. |
