Wasnt bad last time they played. Trolls come along and say "wow your team/player sucks" and we agree with them. No pushback, like the team we support

Very true. I'm fine with Demko getting a game if he keeps trending up, but agree he shouldn't be up for any length of time. I'm hoping for a very similar lineup next year and a whole lot more quality down in Utica next year.
- neem55

I'd totally be fine with them turning their focus to Utica right now. Send back any waiver eligible player they got not named Boeser, give them a chance for some meaningful games this year

I hope they get Gaudette/trade Vanek, both are for the best. Burning a year on the ELC is tempting for the player. Otherwise they can just sign elsewhere.
- neem55

Auditioning talent that is a BB or Gaudette bodes well IMO. It a sign of good faith & not about business. I rather a player feel wanted than just a piece of meat. In the case of this season we need a C to showcase his talent so we can move on from the Sedins.

OMG, we're as soft as the team!!!

You are spot on, it's hard to troll when we say "I know" after been told the team is garbage.

Well i must admit even my openminded optimism is taking a big hit this season.

3 consecutive years of massive injuries.
My expectations have not changed nor have i been disappointed. Waiting on prospects & the TDL & draft is once again what remains for us again. Not all bad but hardly exciting.

Other than BB there is not much good to say about this season & roster. Vanek has shown what a pro he is & will get us a good return i am sure of. Dowd i like & he will be a good 4th liner going forward. The D shows no signs of growth. Someone has to go at or before the TDL. Iโ€™m fairly certain Gaudette will get a chance this year & burning 1 year up of his ELC. Some see that as a waste but i donโ€™t. Demko will get in a start or 2 near seasons end to wet his appetite. Nillson wonโ€™t be back.

- Nighthawk

I see it as a waste only because of the potential expansion draft in 2.5 years. Under the same rules, if he starts his pro contract in September he wont need to be protected; if he starts in March then he will be.

The most games he could play in this year would be 7, assuming he signs right after his team is eliminated at regionals. Molino played 5 NHL games, did him no good and you could argue that Boeser's 9 games did nothing to enhance him either since he is still scoring at a similar pace

Yeah exactly. I'd rather see JV getting 18 minutes+ per night with special teams. I think Goldy has earned it, but again if he plays 14 minutes might as well let boucher and chpoop take their spots. I personally don't think they're learning that much playing so little time in games where they are getting throttled.

I suspect that they'll get more minutes down the stretch when the team has no hope left.

Yup, however even with more minutes at the NHL level I dont think they are ready enough to do it without better support around them. Keeping them up also hurts the "winning environment" in Utica. ECHLers and PTO vets are trying to help Demko and the remaining prospects right now

Both franchises are losing at the moment, not ideal IMO

Iโ€™ve been to game in Vegas and the atmosphere was awesome. It made Rogers Arena feel like a court room. The fan base there is one of reasons why they have started off so strong.

Anyone going to the game feb 23? I'll be there with my Chaput jersey on.

I can just see you with your Chaput jersey, in your Toyota Tacoma with your perfectly feathered hair and Nickleback pumping out of the sound system.

I take it with how depleted the team is that will be the party line now. But last game they were too embarrassed to troll as they lost bad.

Goldy has earned nothing other than the opportunity. Utica is not the NHL. As for JV he lacks consistency still. He can impact a game much better but he is not a liability.

Yeah unfortunately the market dictates some of that, if they are half-decent players than they demand more salary/term. Kane will get 7 for 7 at this point based on how dominant and consistent he has been. I'd rather see some cheap adds like uncle Leo Komarov/grabner for 1 or 2 years, cody franson/jack johnson for one year 1 mil. Just bring in some guys that can put on the sweater and let the kids be in the AHL and earn a roster spot the hard way, but also are decent pro's that could play themselves into trade chips. The hard part is convincing guys to play here instead of sign the same deal to play for a contender or tax exempt team. Vegas is straight up tax exempt, you make twice as much as a hockey player there, it's nuts!
- neem55

Yup, go cheap and keep rebuilding thru the draft, keep adding picks at the next couple TDLs.

Add when we can yes.
Like it or not we all can see the time lag cup runs is doing to us. A missed generation of prospects takes time to integrate let alone draft & develop.

Through it all i still maintain that our D is our biggest priority. Not easily remedied other than drafting more D. Lack of any scoring threat is woeful. Trading say Vanek EG or any other player for picks is nice but if we can get some D scoring that would be beneficial. Idk if Hutton or Stecher have scoring upside or not. Thats up to JB to decide & how much patience he has. Edler is over the hill for scoring. No interest in the UFA D market but EK is worth a consideration for another day.

Ott/Sens game commentator oughta get his crap straight on that non goalie intereference. Sens player had his stick checked. What a goof. There is no confusion other than him being clueless.
