Knows how to draft and develop. Yzerman is his apprentice. Wings were good for 15 Years, not 15 years ago. Big difference! - neem55
and they have been going down hill for a few years now. Holland is past his prime and is a compete now guy not a re-build guy.
Hard no to Holland. |

Vanek 1 year 2.5 mil
van Reimsdyke 3 years @4
Horqvist 4x4.5
Better options off the top of my head - VANTEL
The first two arn't realistic cap hit wise in my opinion. The last two arn't what I'd want as role models, twins work hard on and off the ice and even if they arn't as good on the ice they'd make better role models. |

I am not the one who termed them "new-age", I am just saying what type of player I believe falls into that category.
Yes, Lumme was a trendsetter, a new-age defenseman, before they even termed it that. - Reubenkincade
I’m just pointing out guys that fit your discription have been in the league for years. There are more of them, cause if you can’t skate you’re (frank)ed in this league cause no clutch and grab. He’ll, Paul Coffey fits your description if we’re being honest. Once he left the Oilers/Pitt you could see he was a bit of a liability in his end. |

As long as they are here you have zero chance at a cup. They are too old slow and soft for a long cup run. They give up as many chances as they create.
Hansen and Vanek both know what is like to be a Canuck. Hansen would be a better line mate for a young guy to insulate. - VANTEL
We arn't going on a long cup run next season... or the season after that so I don't see how that is any concern. |

No cup run for a least 2 years, keep the sedins at the right price to prep the young guys. |

He rebuilt Detroit, drafted and developed literally all of the first ballot HOFers from the 90’s and 2000’s. Other teams just got really good at drafting, league is so equal now everyone has to get bad for a bit while their stars age. |

Hansen works hard.
I am not criticizing them . I think it is unreasonable to think we will jump from 3 bottom 5 finishes to winning the cup with them in two years. We know what they bring and they are also part of the reason for our bottom finishes. We should be looking at different options.

They make trades for big names.... Dougie Hamilton and Travis Hamonic. That would be why. They think they are making the trades because they are ready to compete.
If you look at Boston, they have some good young players now but probably still aren't ready to compete, they traded away a few other big names. To gather a lot of prospects.
NYI are now looking for another Right handed D. They won't even see the rewards for trading away Hamonic for probably another 3-4 years. - manvanfan

I think this season were looking bottom 5, next season i could see as drafting 10 to 15 with the playoffs happening three years from now.
Sedins at 3 Million each for two years won't stop that from happening. Better then a pair of gagners? |

If we’re talking about what we want and not reality such as what the Sedins want/where players will choose to go as UFAs; I’d take Kane at 7 over Sedins for 3 each. |

This is totally untrue, he was hired as Detroit’s GM in the summer of 1997, the 1998 draft was his first as General Manager.
They drafted Datsyuk his first year with a hail-marry in the 6th round and got lucky, again in 1999 they took Zetterberg in the 7th round and got lucky.
He’s been riding their coat tails ever since and those are the only guys who thus far have a chance at the HHOF.

Or
Twins 6 million combined for 2 years

Agreed no cup with them, but don’t think we’re winning a cup in the next year. As for past, could have beat Boston, at that point things can go either way. They were good enough to win a cup back then, they just didn’t.
I also never got the soft part. Did they fight? Nope. But they got hacked, grabbed, punched for years and found ways to score and win and barely miss anytime.
Today’s sedins, I get the hate. But past sedins I never understood why so many thought they were soft. They were not.

If we were really rebuilding, Tanev would be traded, you only keep players like that when you're re-tooling on the fly, so let's hope that years 5-10 of re-tooling on the fly will be more successful. - A_SteamingLombardi
This is wrong. So very wrong. You need a few decent vets around. As a paying customer this is the type of sh!t I won’t support. |
