6 million combined would still be a good deal considering their production this season.

I agree. Limited minutes and d zone starts has helped them stay fresh. Green has done well there

I had to look up who 55 on NYR was, wow Shattenkirk looks bad in his own end. I love that signing amost as much as I hate the Rangers.

The new-age defenseman. None of them are very good defensively

Disagree. Karlsson has gotten a lot better. Hamilton is solid. Hedman is arguably the best. Jones is unreal in his own end (both really). Shattenkirk is just not very good and has not gotten better over the years. Barely a #4, probably better suited to be a bottom pair guy.

The Sedins should be the last option not the first option in the summer . If there are no other solutions then look at bringing them back.

It’s their choice, linden has said as much on numerous occasions. It looks to me like they have another year in them, but I’m sure they will weigh what they want after the year. There isn’t really a better set of role models, I’ll be happy as long as they aren’t being paid too much.

Of your examples, I would only consider Karlson as one of these new-age style defensemen and we all know he is very good offensively, but has many defensive lapses.

He’s just the mouthpiece of Aqualini. Too much “franchise pride” to tamper with the best Canucks of all time and their legacy. Like I said, I’ll be happy when they are getting paid a lot less for their production/leadership.

HEdman had 70 points last year... what is your qualification for “new age”? Also isnt Shartenkirk a little old to be new age?

I think it’s smart. You need guys that love the Canucks to show the next guys what it means. Bringing in a bunch of older FA on their last contract is NOT the same. This is why we should being the sedins back. Having them be canucks from day 1 On means something and is a good example.

They need a new president who has a lengthy resume of hockey management.

Is love to see Ken Holland get hired, not sure I’m what capacity but I would like more experience in the management too.

Hansen 1 year 1.25 mil
Vanek 1 year 2.5 mil
van Reimsdyke 3 years @4
Horqvist 4x4.5

Better options off the top of my head

Ken Holland is the last guy. People have to get past the Wings of 15 years ago. They are going to suck for a while now.

Van rymsdyk will make more than 4 on the open market. I like some of these options. I’d like to bring Vanek back, after we trade him! Maybe trade him a again next year

On paper maybe but not for what it means to be a Canucks. Imagine the sedins talking about the cup run, how close, how crazy, how bad they wish they won for the city. Passing that on to Bo, B.B., and so on is important.

I value that and Canucks should too. They are respected.

Knows how to draft and develop. Yzerman is his apprentice. Wings were good for 15 Years, not 15 years ago. Big difference!

I would say a new-age defenseman is one that skates well, moves the puck well and struggles defensively. Hedman and Jones are more traditional 2 way defenseman.

I guess Jurki Lumme was a new age defenseman... I always just said he was bad in his own end.

As long as they are here you have zero chance at a cup. They are too old slow and soft for a long cup run. They give up as many chances as they create.

Hansen and Vanek both know what is like to be a Canuck. Hansen would be a better line mate for a young guy to insulate.

I am not the one who termed them "new-age", I am just saying what type of player I believe falls into that category.
Yes, Lumme was a trendsetter, a new-age defenseman, before they even termed it that.
