It was a stupid signing. It was signing for play off contention not for re-building.
It was a signing for short term gains (ie; a cup run) not not for the longer future. It was part of their mixed messages campaign of the last few years.

No, you sign players like Vanek to 1 year deals and then trade them for assets, not 3-6 year deals. No UFA should be signed for 6 years in a rebuild.

Do what homework? What difference does it make what side of the border the cup lands on? If Canadian gms don't put together a winning formula ...why does that become...bettman hates Canada? Last time I checked league wide , teams were still largely made up of Canadian born players...to the tune of close to 60 %. What team in Canada the last 20 years do you feel was absolutely robbed of a cup? Most years we can't even get half our teams into the playoffs...let alone put together a championship calibre winning team. Canucks have had the best chance...the most talented team by far in 2011. But they were butter soft and emotionally weak. You know it....i know it....everyone knows it. Boston broke their will....and took the cup. No conspiracy here, they did what it took to win...Sedins led us off to the golf course!

Fans wanted younger, faster. They got McCann and JV. Was a mistake. Fans realized they were wrong.

Then fans wanted to not sign any half decent free agents and they got Chaput and Megna and complained for an entire season about how much they suck. Fans again realized they were wrong.

Fans wanted some players sold at the TDL. It happened.

The fans then wanted to watch entertaining hockey, so they signed some mid level free agents to allow the younger players more time to develop and the Chaput's and Megna's not have a regular roster spot.

Fans are still complaining about management.
