Except Kane hasn’t regularly produced.

He went the first 12 games last year (22 if you include his injury) without a goal, then went on a 40 game hot streak, then disappears the final 20.

This year he was on fuego for 20 games, and since has scored 4 goals in 18 games which is barely a 20 goal pace.

He’s a good player, who dominated early in his contract year. Let’s not lose sight of what he’s been his entire career. Which is a 20 goal, 40 point player who is one of dozens like him.

I wish he was signed and this wasn’t a discussion, because he has grown on me as a player

There is no other winger on the team who has produced points as regularly and consistently as he has. I’m not saying his production is elite. I’m saying we already have holes at wing and cutting ties with Kane creates an even bigger hole to fill which may not be as easy as it was in all of your examples.

There are only a couple guys in the league that "consistently" score goals. 95% of "goal scorers" are bunch scorers.

Hope Casey doesn't play 4 years of college hockey then signs with the Rangers or Wild. I know that sounds unreasonable, but we're Buffalo and can't have good things.
- kritter65

That sure as hell doesn't sound unreasonable. Let the kid have his education first! We can keep the 2C spot open for him...

This year, yes. The others, no.

Okposo has been way more consistent up until this year. Reinhart was more consistent the previous two years (not as good, but consistent)

I wouldn’t mind Kane here short term. Long term I think it’s a bad idea.

Not to the degree Kane is.

Even Vanek who would go on insane hot streaks, would never go 12-15 games without goals, like Kane seems to annually.

Winnipeg has lost two guys in Ladd and Kane in the past 3 years and are better now than they ever were with them.

We will be fine

How did Toronto survive losing Kessel? Nashville losing Neal? Tampa losing Drouin?

Scoring wingers can be replaced. Easily

- sbroads24

U keep saying that,
but aren’t offering up how exactly?

Crosby had a streak earlier this year of zero goals in 11 games that he finally broke out of against us

Goal scoring droughts literally happen to everyone

And that 11 games was his career long. He’s been in the league for like 12 years

I don’t disagree I guess. I just think we will Be hard pressed to replace him, and have a real problem with the argument that it will be “easy” to do so.

Okposo’s career ppg Numbers, which are comparable to Kane’s, we’re established by the market as a $36M contract.

I think you can find guys cheaper in FA that will put up similar numbers to what Kane historically has. Especially if they play with Jack.

Maybe not as many goals, but maybe someone who can actually feed Eichel

What we need is a pleasant surprise or two.

Danton Heinen of the Bruins was a 4th round pick in 2014, and has 26 points this year. When have we had a guy come out of nowhere and be a 50 point contributor?

Actually probably was Audette. 9th rounder. regular 20-goal, 50-point guy for us.

Risto has the worst drop pass in the league, nobody ever falls for it and all it ever does is bunch the other team up in their zone.

How does the number 1 pp drop immediately to last place the following season with the exact same skaters oot there?

Rumor has it, Kaiser has bought every one of RORs soundtracks off soundcloud.

Sure, but all that matters is the number at the end of the year.

You think the Leafs give a (frank) that they got into the playoffs solely by the loser point?

Eichel is 8th in the NHL with 14 goals at even strength (not just 5 on 5)

Ok, but other than college free agent Torey Krug the Bruins haven't had a surprise player that they drafted dating back to at least the full lost season.

It's basically a random distribution.

Yeah I just mean we could really use an out of nowhere player that produces.

Not sure Evan Rodrigues cuts it

Oh, ok, I thought you were talking like Gerbe that every team gets one every couple of years, and that "we suck" because we never get one.

Yet he forgets about Miller.
