was a proposition on twitter that had the bills giving the giants both their first-rounders this season and another first rounder next season to move up to #2...

imo, the bills have too many holes to fill and need too much depth to be doing something like that this year

- Michael Pachla

Quite the quandary really. As you have heard from me I really want Baker Mayfield who will go top 10 and could go higher. They may need to get into top 3 if they want him.
That cost though, ouch!

Mayfield may go lower than that...

personally, there might be a bad-ass defensive tackle they could get with their first of two first rounders

The Dareus trade just goes to show how underrated that position is when stats don't play into your impact on the field.

From what people are saying around the league he doesn't make it past Denver

Eichel is a franchise player...barrasso had a great rookie year but struggled after that...Housley was a so bad at playing defense that the only way to keep him on the ice to use his talents was to play him on the wing...myers spent an extra year in junior...pierre?...he never fully lived up to his no.1 overall draft postion
- Michael Pachla

Absolutely hated Turgeon. Very soft underachiever.
He fit in well with Buffalo’s long tradition of picking soft players...meanwhile they would get their heads beat in by arch enemies Flyers and Bruins.

Ya, and by “may go higher” I meant like top 4 or 5.
The cost to move up is going to be crazy, as indicated by Patch’s post ... but, it has been long enough, I think I would pay it for him.

I'm a huge Mayfield fan for the Bills

He is a better passing, more accurate with the ability to extend plays

Basically a little less athletic when it comes to running but a much better passing Tyrod which until the OL is fixed that is what the Bills will need IMO.

However I do not want the Bills to trade away all of the draft picks they have because there are many holes on this roster that need to be filled and they could legit have 4 or 5 starters with their first 5 picks.

Edit:

mogilny may qualify but he played many years in Russian junior leagues and turned 20 just over half way through his first nhl season

- Michael Pachla

barrasso led the league in GAA his second year

sabres had a crappy roster his 3rd year on, and he was the fall guy IMO

I fear the kid will be gone and the bills will hold onto the picks and we end up drafting rudolph or they fall in love with allen at the combine

nope, gonna have to trade to pick 3 or 4 if they want him, assuming the giants don't pick him at 2

Steve Simmons thinks Brock Boeser would go ahead of Eichel in a 2015 re-draft.

*Jackpot*

I would never trade Eichel for Boeser in a million years

Can a player truly be "rushed" into the NHL? I'm of the opinion that at 18, most hockey players are more or less the player they're going to be. You just have to refine them. If he makes the NHL roster out of training camp, that's it, he's ready, IMO.
- BeadyEyedDouche

Correct. Making the roster by earning it as opposed to being put on the roster. A lot of people want to just put him on the roster because he looks good in a few tournament games. Some people had Casey Nelson penciled in as a top four D because he looked good in a few games after we signed him. Turned out he's not ready and being kept in the ahl. Had they kept him up here that, to me, would've been a player who was rushed. CM might be ready but he needs to show he can play with the big boys.

it's about maturity and confidence to go with one's skill-level and both of those aspects are developed at different paces for different individuals
- Michael Pachla

Agreed. If players didn't need to develop they'd all just be in the starting lineup the year they were drafted and there'd be no need to even have the ahl.

He doesn't like Eichels tendency to... hot dog... during the game

Awesome write up. Yesterday felt great. Go Bills tomorrow. Win and they can feel good about themselves, playoffs or no. They way overachieved this year.

Kane has 3 goals (2 5v5) in his last 17 games. Eichel's been en fuego in roughly that same time

I never bought the player is rushed into the nhl theory

Sure, if they're Barrasso good, but if they're Grigorenko good it's a different ball of wax.

kane 14 points in last 17 games
eichel 18 points in last 17 games

both are still putting up very good numbers during that stretch

the biggest issues on this team is anything but those 2
