Nobody ( ok nobody sane ) expected the team to be good at this point. It's just that the direction of the team has been muddled for a few seasons which puts the rebuild behind where it should be. - golfingsince
And that's my issue which I stand steadfast in defending |

A team slowly improving without high draft picks? - manvanfan
Umm we're probably gonna finish bottom 3 so i'm not sure where the improvement comes from. Granted, we are slowly getting younger but we've had several years of high draft picks. |

Oh course he is, just commenting on what he'd be worth. Some team might think he's got big potential and others might think he's a bust. If you'd ask the 30 other teams my guess is each one would rate him differently. |

I don't blame him. The ref was about to give him a penalty, which would have cut in to his ice time. - CubanBuffet

I'm hearing from a pretty reliable source that Linden and Benning will be back for 4 more years...that should do it. - LordHumungous
I am not sure there are better options. I may have wanted something better but maybe it was not available |

Ya I'm happy with the past two years results, those finishes netted them two really good prospects. My issues lie solely with how they're going about rebuilding, last year was a major step in the right direction, I just hope they manage their assets well and acquire more picks.
Gadjovich was a result of Tortorrella signing in Columbus not Benning acquiring another 2nd. - LeftCoaster
Until last season, there wasn't a lot of "assets" to manage. Didn't have worthy expiring contracts that other teams wanted. |

Armstrong re-upped for 4 more years in St. Louis. Picking became thinner. |

that's fine as long as they trade guys at the deadline and acquire more picks so they can get their hands on prospects like Gadjovich or Dahlen. |

This could be true. I'm not like a lot on here that want Linden gone...I honestly don't think he is much of a factor in day/day operations just a figurehead the fans can connect with. Benning on the other hand has had some gaffes like any new GM but his past few years have shown promise. I think he deserves a shot to finish his mark on the club. Not popular opinion but that's just me. |

The 14-10-2 hockey before the key injuries wasn't an improvement? If they kept up at around that pace still, they would be sitting in a playoff spot right now. I know i'm speaking in hindsight that if there wasn't injuries to some of the teams best players. |

We traded 2nds and McCann, signed expensive FA's. |
