However, the teams that had interest are tight to the 50-contract limit and wanted to send a player under contract back to Edmonton. Unfortunately for the Oilers, they’re pretty tight to the limit as well (48) and would undoubtedly prefer to either clear the contract off the books entirely via a waiver claim from elsewhere or keep him as injury insurance over accepting a minor league player of nominal value in return.

I think Cassels will be gone in 6 months. MacEwen could one day be 4 th line but at least 2 years away

Kleffbom came back last night off injury and they already have Nurse for that type of player.

As I mentioned last night he has another year at 900k. He is like Biega with size and better fighter. Cheap to pick up and if you move out EG then you replace the physical game

If Cassels continues at this rate or near it for the rest of the season. He will be back. 22 years olds and finally showing improvement in points. He should get at least another year. Utica is always hurting for centers/players in general.

Hes definitely progressing, I have to keep reminding myself that he's only 19. Seems like they drafted him four years ago and he's still trying to make it.....oh sorry that's Virtanen lol

I want the high pick. I can not watch a game and not hope they win. The reality is we need another high pick or two so the end result does come down to we need to get top 10 pick which means we need to lose.

No one cheers to lose because we don't like Canucks , it is long term thinking. We are getting close to having a good young competitive roster. We are almost there.

it's still a hockey blog with differing opinions on how to get better. Just because opinions differ doesn't mean we don't all want the same thing, a Canucks team that can compete for a Cup.

I think last years draft was awesome, but I also thought 2014's was awesome, and there's only Demko left to fulfill the role of a top player. IMO Virtanen will be a useful nhler but not a star or top six guy.

Thus I'm mindful of keeping my excitement in check.
