It is mind blowing that as of right now we are tied for most goals scored with the best team in the league (tampa) and we are tied for most goals against with the worst team in the league (phoenix). With some solid D and goaltending we would be a serious contender now. We have a abundance of prospects and picks. Who should Snow target? I say Mrazek to start. The guy was on fire under Babcock and after the changes in Detroit he hardly plays enough.

Blowing games like the one vs ducks or det are the ones that comeback to haunt you. Division is even closer now so they really need to beat buffalo and Colorado coming up. Jets will be hard up there

Matthew Barzal: 35 Pts in 36 games, rookie of the year candidate, 20 yrs old.
Matt Duchene: 15 pts in 34 games, -8, 26 yrs old.

Every passing game makes me even happier the isles didn’t trade for Duchene, especially if it meant including Barzal.

Actually Snow didn't trade for Duchene.

First of all Merry Chanukah / Christmas / Festivus / Kwanzaa everyone. Haven’t been here in a while, so we’ll start with that.

Second- what they call a power forward generally takes longer to develop, especially if he’s not a prolific skater. Also, a goal scorer needs someone to dish him the rock...so there’s probably that, as well.

The other thing is this: if I’m talking to anyone about anything, that would be Matt Murray, provided the Pens are actually serious about moving him.....

Rumor had it from last season that Duchene’s knee(s?) is (are) shot. I would never have moved Barzal for him in a million years.....

Agreed. I think Bellows might be pretty good. We'll get a good look at Bellows at the World Juniors this week. Dal Calle when he was eligible didn't make the Canadian team.

Some draft picks just don't pan out. Step right up, Nikita Filatov.

Garth Snow's Top 5 draft picks just don't pan out, except for Tavares. Step right up, Michael DalBust.

Agreed. Trading Lee for Draisatl would create a bigger hole than it would fill.

Many believe Barzal is a frontrunner for the Frank Calder Trophy -- the NHL's Rookie of the Year award. But even with 35 points on the season already (12 goals, 23 assists), Barzal himself doesn't think he's exceeding expectations this season.

"I don't know if I've exceeded [my expectations]," Barzal said. "I've been given a great opportunity by the staff and lots of ice time and power play and playing with two good linemates. So no, I don't think it's a surprise."

Love the swagger

Bingo. Those are the picks you HAVE too hit on. That's why we suffered through those shat years, that's how you circumvent the cap, that's how you add to the longevity of a teams competitiveness. That's literally why you build through the (frank)ing draft!

Snow has failed miserably in "building through the draft" considering the amount of time, top 5 picks, and the length of leash he was given.

At this point the vast majority of us are wondering if we'll even make the playoffs and I would be willing to bet that NONE of us minus maybe a poster or two believe we would do anything even if we made the playoffs. There is something really wrong with that with going on 12 years of "rebuilding" and if you (not you of course) don't agree you deserve the at best mediocrity that Snow delivers on.

Snow fans are the Snow flakes of the hockey world. They don't know what good is and they love getting bent over continuously while thinking they know better then everyone else
