buffalo try hard crowd eats that crap up just like they do every time Nolan dishes out a hit
- Sabresfan-365

when ROR skates for the sabres, he is a lot closer to Girgens as a sabre than ROR for team Canada

the second line sucks and he is the anchor

he needs to worry more about getting the puck out of the corner and back checking then rehashing the same blah post game interview of why they lost

- homiedclown

I will never understand the fascination with making this a thing

So if there's an opportunity to play him with potentially good wingers (Smith and Baptiste) why wouldn't you want to try that. It would probably make him better, and make them better
- jcragcrumple

he has played with Kane and Okposo

he has played with Pouliot and Reinhart

he looks great on a pk

on even strength, he looks like he is ready to go back to the sabres end instead of pushing toward the other teams net

right now, I would put e-rod as the second line center and move ROR to Eichel's wing

every night when I get home from work after a sabres game, I go to WGR

it's literally groundhog day

for once I would like him to have a meltdown and say he is sick of losing

kinda answered your own question there. Small sample size but does raise questions whether he can be a core player or not

I think the BPA argument wins out in the 1st round as there is a larger, known skill and potential difference between prospects. 2nd-7th round, we should be targeting mostly defenders as you say, but at pick 1-6...it's fairly set in stone and the real decisions are usually made by the teams drafting ahead of you.

Question: Would you take McIsaac over Zadina? Or really would you draft a top10 ranked defender over a top5 forward, knowing the forward had more potential and a higher ceiling?

- RhinoFan

I get what you’re saying...
but Edmonton kept doing that & it screwed them royally

Shouldn’t we have taken Sergachev over Nylander?

Even if we later decided to trade Sergachev, we could get a Drouin
Think we could’ve gotten that for Nylander?

So yeah,
knowing how bad we need defense I would take a guy ranked 8th I’ve a forward ranked 4th
Bc we can always trade that defenseman for a good young forward if we want to

And there’s gotta be a guy we like
Besides McIsaac...
Hughes, Smith & Wilde are all top10 potentials

Varada had no business playing in the NHL
his heart, grit and ability to play out every shift got him a nice bank account

Stu Barnes was nothing more than a fringe 3rd line player who overachieved and carved out a nice NHL career

I would like to see a guy who wanted out of Colorado to show this leadership on our roster

I want him to be a leader on this team

way too talented for this team to be 30th place

and he plays a fraction of the game he plays for team canada

it's not a crime to expect your better players to lead this team to a much better place then where we are at

- homiedclown

He’s placed in offensive situations for team Canada
Expecting him to produce the same when he’s in different roles doesn’t make sense

Ok... but he’s still an unknown at best
I don’t even think we can say Borgen is a for sure “top4” guy

I'm not sure how to respond to any of that. Idk what Varada and Stuuu have to do with ROR, and i fundamentally disagree with the premise of your 3rd paragraph

Dude...

Who are ROR’s linemates on Team Canada,
vs who they are here?

It’s really that simple

Plus we play him in such a defensive role

Why don't you just go to Hawaii from LA? That makes no sense to come to Buffalo, then back to LA on to Hawaii.

Absolutely. That was a big miss and I thought it was (for once I was right) at the time. Still, in the 2014 draft, should we have skipped over Sam, Sam, and Leon to get Haydn Fleury? Not sure Fleury would have ever brought back a Drouin type player and the reason Sergachev did is because he was excelling.

You are right though in that defenders do seem to be more valuable at every stage of development. I'm torn. Hope they get a defender, just still hope they don't force it.
