Tough deal to make...
Blackhawks Receive:
C/LW - Alex Galchenyuk
G - Carey Price
2019 - 4th Round Pick
Canadiens Receive:
C - Artem Anisimov
LW - Alexandre Fortin
RW - Marian Hossa (salary dump)
D - Ville Pokka
G - Corey Crawford
2018 - 1st Round Pick
2019 - 2nd Round Pick
...it looks similar to my offer for Karlsson and I'm not sure that's even enough, but Bowman and Bergevin have history, which maybe allows Marc to take less than market value for Price? It also gives Montreal some long-term cap flexibility as Chicago's big-money contracts expire much sooner than Carey's...
MB has coveted Anisimov in the past (does he solve their 2C issue?) and adding two local (Crawford & Fortin) players might be appealing for his market. Crow adds their much-needed "winning" pedigree and perhaps he'd be finally willing to waive his NMC to return home for the twilight of his career?
I'm not sure if I'd take this from Montreal's point-of-view, but if they're moving on from Price it means the rebuild has begun...so, picking up a couple high-ceiling prospects (Fortin & Pokka) and two early-round draft picks, while still receiving NHL-level talent (Anisimov & Crawford) to remain competitive or flip for more assets might be enough to take the plunge. |

I think Price is currently untradeable. That contact is crazy so if....if....if.... he could be traded, the team that picks him up must think they have all the other ducks in a row for success this year and the next two... maybe three.
So....
To CHICAGO
Price
Davidson
.5 million cash off of the Price Contract
To MONTREAL
Seabrook
Crawford
Here Montreal escapes the contract as they are no where near a serious contender but get back some salary cap, a serviceable #1 for many more years than Price and a very strong D.
Chicago thinks they are much closer to the Cup so they pick a goalie who, by himself, could be the difference in a round or two and are willing to pay for the opportunity. They lose Seabrook's massive contract, get a young D-man and a far more realistic chance at the cup than they currently have. - Beatle_john
1) Davidson is an Oiler.
2) No way any team survives with 3 X $10M contracts.

I hate the Flyers but they may have what it takes:
To Montreal:
Sanheim-D
Lehtera-C
Hart-G
Elliot-G
1st or 2nd Round Pick in 2019 or 2020 or Scott Laughton (Montreal can choose)
1st Round Pick in 2018 (Montreal can choose either Philly or St. Louis' Pick)
To Phildaelphia:
Price-G - NJDevils29
You don't have to mention that you hate the Flyers, you obviously hate the Flyers if you want them to give all that away to bring in Price. In two or three years time, Carter Hart will be making calling Carey Price "generational" look like calling Jori Lehtera Montreal's answer to a superstar at 1C. Put down the Xbox and learn about hockey in real life. Flyers are 2 years away from finally having their quest for a franchise goaltender answered (not to mention their building of an incredible defensive corps), and we should trade that and the rest of a kings ransom away to bring in a declining goaltender on an albatross contract? Get real

What does that have to do with the teams financial gains? Like talking to a wall I'm done. Bring up a stupid point and redirect. Done this before with you won't do it again. - Cptmjl
We wernt talking about that. We were talking about a team who is willing to take risks and crazy contracts. The islanders have a crazy past. Sure highly not revevant to today's $ situation. I was not very clear.

With the way the season has played out so far, this is the wrong time to be asking the question.

AS MON GM I WOULD
As an Oilers fan I can only hope Chia stays away from Price....the package the buffoon would pay could only border on staggering.
I see St Louis as the team to go all in and they can do it without butchering their line up.
Assuming a Price trade marks the start of a retool / rebuild I try the following...
To Montreal: C Tage Thompson, RW Robbi Fabbri, RD Jordan Schmaltz, G Jake Allen and first rnd pick in 18
To St Louis: G Carey Price, D Jordie Benn and C Alex Galchenyuk
Mon gets excellent prospects including a giant C and a right handed D. Yes I see Mon fans yelling they have so and so in the minors but if you want to develop them you need a vet and Allen is only under contract 3 more years.
Truth be told I'd prefer Gallagher but I see him as more a solution than problem in Mon if he can stay healthy.
St Louis takes all this money on. But they get Price, who is still all world talent and will have an actual defense in front of him. Benn adds to the depth and Galchenyuk is a gamble who should benefit from a change of scene and less pressure
Let the trolling begin lol bash away

Why on earth would the Blackhawks make that deal? How many Stanley Cups have they won with Crawford in goal?

The difference between them is .002 sv% this season. I'll take the cheaper, younger, bigger guy. - BINGO!
Carey Price (Age 30):
530 GP .920 SV% 2.42 GAA 40 SO
Pekka Rinne (Age 35)
533 GP .918 SV % 2.37 GAA 46 SO
Johnathan Quick (Age 31):
518 GP .916 SV% 2.27 GAA 46 SO
Carey Price is good, but he's not worth his contract. A team would be foolish to willingly take on that contract. |

Yo, I'm Garth Snow.
We would love to show Tavares and Eberle that we are committed to this team and think Carey is a huge way to do that.
We will send you: Ho-Sang, Dal Colle, Halak (your old friend and Price's old competition), Kulemin (for cap balance), and our 1st Rd pick in 2018.
This gives you goaltending flexibility over the summer with both Halak (potential resign), and Kulemin's expiring contracts while also injecting youth and scoring potential to your lineup. |

Price for

Victor Mete, Joe Morrow...
He's worth the lot of them, even at 10m. |

Why would the Hawks trade a bad contract for an even worse contract? A poopty D-man and the lesser goalie in the deal?

[quote=SENSible_Fan]Carey Price for Bobby Ryan straight up. Canadiens get the least crappy contract out of this.
You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want Bobby on that wing. You need Bob on that wing.
Bobby uses words like honor, code, loyalty. Bobby uses these words as the backbone of a life spent defending his hockey reputation & team mates. You use them as a punchline. Bobby Ryan has neither the time nor the inclination to explain himself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very enjoyment that he provides, and then questions the manner in which he provides it! Bobby would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way, Otherwise, he suggests you pick up a stick and stand a post at centre wing or on D. Either way, he don't give a (frank) what you think you are entitled to complain about! - Aussiepenguin

With that contract? There isn't even a discussion unless Montreal is retaining at least 30%. This is going to be the new Luongo contract when Montreal goes to move him |
