I'm ok with moving risto too, if we get value back.
His contract 5.4? A year for his age is fair.

Just wondering if silent phil and his 5 man rushing unit is confusing or a difficult concept?

Risto has quite a few points over his career, especially with a couple questionable head coaches. He's definitely been a disappointment this year

- Boss34

I doubt we are shopping Risto and I would only pull the trigger if it was a crazy offer but I do agree he kinda looks lost this year.

Kane, Lehner, and Sam for Karlsson and a pick?
- lulags

If only it was that easy

It would cost more and different players

I think we missed the boat on a Sam trade. Last year or last off season was the time to pull the trigger. His is too slow for todays game. He now has zero trade value.
- lulags

If only we could trade him to one of hockeybuzz's gms. Lot's of support here still. He's part of the lackluster, little effort, entitled group we need to clear out.

Eventually ryan leaf fans gave up.

Trade him for a pick, high or low.
Guys with his "petigree" get 2nd chances

Even though the points don't show. It looked like Eichel showed up a little more than usual early in the game last night.

This is all well and good but for me it just makes the rest of this season look ever more lazy. His first couple shifts he was playing with confidence and skating hard. Why can't he do this on nights when the HBO cameras aren't there?

It also looked like after the Kane chance he went right back to being frustrated and gliding around.

I agree he has some value and the lack-luster performance we have seen this year is partially to blame on a team that does not gel in anyway unless your lucky enough to find yourself next to Kane and Eichel some nights.
I still think his speed is a major issue for the modern game.

Kane is an awful passer. He's our leading point scorer by pure luck.

Did you see Kane's cross ice wrist shot of a pass that's three feet over Sam's stick, hits the boards and of course goes the other way? If that's Eichel it's on Sams tape

- sbroads24

I really dont like knocking the guy because hes playing the best hockey of his career and seems to have really gotten his act together but the production is being way overvalued.

When's the roster freeze?

I'm guessing the Boston gm meeting goes like this:

Let's trade our cost controlled, best young defenseman since ray bourgue, in the division for risto at 5.6 million.

Your fired

He is, but it's more just because he's stayed healthy.

He's a good goal scorer. But that's about it.

If Kane was signed here for the next 4 years at 5-6 mil, he's the least of our concerns

They are going to clean house then.

Revised:

Kane, Lehner, 2019 1st for Karlsson and Colin White

I agree 100% with this on Kane. Good effort, hustle, grit. Terrible passer, hockey sense

Sure let's do the gm senario again

Kane- rental with off ice problems
Lehner- starting goalie on the worst team in the nhl, due a raise from 4 plus million
Risto- underachieving and possibly over paid

For

The best defenseman in the game and a high 1st. To a division rival

Really? Seriously?

Wouldn't come close to Karlsson alone.

Karlsson would be our 2018 1st + Guhle + Nylander + another big time peice.

Honestly, not sure they would move him for Eichel considering his new contract would be the reason they trade Karlsson

Ottawa will want more than this, and paying more is not worth it given:

1. Karlsson is a UFA in a year
2. He'll want 12 million or more
3. He hasn't been a truly dominate Dman since his injury
