I assume you are talking about McCabe because Risto is a right hand shot. - BigDog912
Yes, I meant McCabe.. Count me as one of the few that would love the Leafs to get Ristolainen, still only 23 and has a good salary, cap wise.. Where we can afford him |

If we do trade Leivo for McCabe, can we make McCabe wear #24?
Because it would be nice to take my old McCabe jersey out of the vault and start using it again. |

Ristolainen is more of the same....defensive deficiencies and inconsistency.
The leafs need an experienced top 4, warhorse-just look what Hainsey has done for Rielly's game.
I'll take chances and wait for doughty before giving away unbelievable skill like nylander....
Just ask oiler fans how much they enjoy having strome and larsson instead of hall and eberle.
You simply cannot give away speed and skill like nylander.
Luckily, the Leaf braintrust knows this even if some bloggers don't. |

Polak is #1 at ripping slapshots directly into the forechecker's shinpads - TheMussel
It was more of a joke that we'd still be fighting over D...just our #7 and not our #2-#6
He hasn't been too bad for a guy coming off a bad injury and limited playing time.

So, if you could get Ristolainen without giving up Matthews/Marner/Nylander you still wouldn't do it?
What if there was a package where we can get Ristolainen and Moulson for Gardiner, Kapanen, Rasanen, Horton's contract and a 1st rd pick and 2nd rd pick this year?
Not saying this would be enough, but what if it was good enough for Buffalo? |

Yeah he will cost way to much for the leafs and even the projected (from one leaf fan) Timothy Liljegren, Kasperi Kapanen, Connor Brown and first. Which is alot for the leafs to give up without damaging starting roster. I just dont think it would be worth it for the sabres. Look at the leafs and what they have to give up to get top Right hand dman. That will be sabres next year or two if we trade him. |

Gardiner 2.0 and a guy that's on waivers for Gardiner, Kapanen, Rasasen, a 1st and a 2nd?

We're trying to bump guys like Polak/Carrick etc out of the lineup...pretty tough to do if we trade a top 4 guy for a top 4 guy. Need to add without losing Gard/Rielly/Hainsey/Z hopefully. |

He's not the target the Leafs should be shooting for.....they have a couple defenders already in a similar mould, and more in the pipeline....
what they are missing is a true defensive defenseman with an edge. |

plays against every teams top line.....on a shat team....pretty sure Jesus Christ himself would be -84 - Garnie
the thing is, if I am calling someone a #1 or top pairing D, i would at least expect that #1 d to be able to tread water a little against other top players. Even on a crappy team. an up until this season he has gotten run over (and not by a little)
based on the small sample this seaosn I am willing to wait and see how he does over the full season before saying for sure he is a meh over rated player getting heavy minutes he cant handle
the other thing is, what are Leaf fan using to base their opinions on? I dont watch the sabers outside of the few games against the leafs. and in those games I dont really remember him..much at all
I only have stats to go on.. .and so far they are not flattering outside of points and he gets a lot on the PP |
