As thoroughly disappointed with the season as I am, I want to stress to everyone that a down season isn't reason enough to run good players out of town. I imagine it won't be too long before the masses start calling for the heads of Drai, Klef and Talbot. |

Whenever the Flames play a stinker game, the only thing that gives me some solace and comfort is how badly the Oilers are playing.
Thank you Chia.... For bring the best GM for trades and big signings.... It's the only thing holding McDavid back thankfuly |

Oh, the benefits of playing in a bottom-6 that can score... or a team that can score at 5-on-5. |

Approaching must win territory again
He gutted our high end talent.
The only solace we have is hoping that puju and yammy both turn out and maybe we could be a cup contender in 2/3 years - HB77
I hope you're not reffering to Mr. No Show in the playoffs. Or the guy with the swarm of bees chasing him around the ice.
That leaves Hall who was a neccessary trade for a top 2 defenseman. |

Iggy on Jared Spurgeon circa 2015:
I asked the following:
You responded:
And now Spurgeon is the driver of one of the league's most effective shutdown pairings and brings offense. Tell me again who's ALWAYS right? - MaximumBone
I’ve been mistaken a couple times but never wrong
I’ve admitted there have been a few. Boychuk is another one. Although he signed that really bad extension. |

Talbot looking bad tonight. Real bad. - MaximumBone
The top players on the oilers are really not far off of the pace they they wear last year difference is talbot is just ordinary this year. The defensive holes were there last year. But when the players made mistakes , talbot was there to make the save. This year he just isn't bailing them out |

Not gonna put all the blame on Talbot as he HAS struggled, but it doesn't help that the team isn't scoring much at 5-on-5. |

Well don't look at me, it's the rest of the donkeys that ran Schultz and Eberle out of town.
Yak did suck, however, can't argue with facts. |

You know who would help with 5-5 scoring? Hall and Eberle. Just saying. |

Yeah, we’re totally fine on offence. Not missing eberle or hall at all right now.
Forget the 560 games where eberle produced at a top line clip. Those were the exception to the rule of a poor 13 games in the playoffs. 13gp >560 gp.
Forget that hall is over a ppg right now and is an elite driver of play.
Wanna know the best part? We’re also pretty handcuffed cap wise going forward so he’d have to pull some Magic to truly upgrade betond giving up a blue chipper for a few months of someone. So Our hopes depend on puju and Yamamoto going forward.

Eberle was our 3rd leading scorer last year and no winger is even coming close to that production. Slepy, Caggs, Jesse P and Kassian combined aren't anywhere near that.
Are you saying Eberle will NEVER be productive in the playoffs based on last seasons run?
Also, Justin Schultz should be our #3 or 4 defender right now, if Chia wasn't too stupid to see his talent and all he needed was a betterment coach for the back end and some better players to surround him with.
I wouldnt have so much of an issue with the Hall trade if we kept and resigned Schultz .
Chia has been dog poop. His bad moves far outweigh his good moves, not even a moron like some on here could logically counter argue that fact. |

But Eberle was quiet in the playoffs last year!!
The level of logical retorts in this place makes my head hurt

Not to mention Davidson if we hadn’t gotten rid of him for jack squat.

Remember Pisani in the playoffs that year!! He must have been a hall of famer based on that one run...
Also remember that one year Ovi sucked and was -45? That meant he was always going to be awful...
I could go on but the mungers will never get it. |

Here's the best part:
Jordan Eberle : 14 points
Taylor Hall : 19 points
Nail Yakupov : 8 points
Justin Schultz : 5 points
46 points
Ryan Strome: 8 points
Adam larsson :3 points
Zach Porcino: so far down the minors Hockeydb can't find Him.
Yeah...Chia is amazing at trades. |

It might not solve anything but I think the team would do well to call-up at couple guys from the farm team and sit our biggest slouches for a few games. Get some fresh and determined energy into the lineup to hopefully spark something. Look at a team like Tampa that gave Gourde- a 25-year old skilled tweener- a shot with talent and he's soaring. Maybe it doesn't last for too long, but it might be the spark they need and can't be less effective than what they've got going on.
Laleggia in for Letestu, Simpson in for Benning, Auvitu in for Gryba and make some subtle line changes.
Lucic- RNH- Draisaitl (matchup line)
Maroon- McDavid- Caggiula (mid-tier opp)
Cammy- Strome- Puljujarvi (softer opp)
Laleggia- Khaira- Kassian (energy line)
Nurse- Larsson
Klefbom- Simpson
Auvitu- Russell
1st and 3rd pairings have seen reasonable success together but these pairings hinge on Simpson being able to carry his low-event style into a more prominent role. Low-event defenders still bring value so long as they can bring an element of puck-moving and don't skate in cement. Guys like Dumoulin, Dotchin, Pesce and Carlo who often come out of almost nowhere to take a spot and just play simple hockey. If not Simpson, maybe trade for that sort of guy. |

Well lets see here...we have no assets left to trade, and if we did I doubt our GM could math the cap, so sure! Why the Hell not?

I think my frustration kinda peaked yesterday with what he said to the media. Effectively dodged any blame saying "the team isn't slow, they're playing slow" and then pretty unequivocally confirmed that help isn't on the way (though that may be a brightside for some). I don't jump on hate-wagons easily, but it's pretty tough to hold back when he says things like that.
If he had come out and said "hey yeah, I made some miscalculations on internal development and we underestimated the pace that the game has grown to hit; we're looking to address those deficiencies" then I couldn't be too peeved. |
