Is that a bad thing?? Because it seems like the criticism/argument is that Sven doesnt get enough points without the help of his line mates??? Like you want him to get more unassisted goals?
- Brooks_Light

Not at all, these are just comments on his future contract, how he's producing more regularly now, and considering why thats the case. When they are looking to pay Baertschi, I hope they consider who's the horse pulling the cart and pay appropriately.

Now he definitely isnt as much of a sidekick as Maroon is for McDavid, but when they continue organizing the salary structure I hope they are cautious with him

You could definitely make that case, and I am not suggesting he's a bad player. He contributes to his line and together they are producing, its a positive thing for sure.

I just think, with his inconsistency over the past couple seasons, that its hard not to look at the presence of Boeser as the biggest change for him

- WhiteLie

I think Boeser is a huge boast for that line (thank fawk) - they're producing at a 1st line rate, they're all young and hopefully can all get better together. The inconsistency was pretty understandable considering the team the past two years. The amount of line shuffling was insane.

I think this team is starting to level out a bit, finding a rhythm and improving. With EP, Dahlen, Lind, Gaudette, Goldy, Gadjo coming soon, hopefully we add secondary scoring to help those guys out.

ok i see what you're saying...

If he puts up 50-60 points are they gonna have to give him Horvat money or Arvidsson money? hopefully the latter.

Benning and the Canucks save Baertschi's career so he owes them a discount on his next contract!

Exactly. I dont want them to see 50-60 points and think he needs to be paid $6m. I hope Horvat's contract is the new benchmark until a legitimate star (Boeser, maybe EP) establishes the new standard for the Canucks in a few years

Didn't Benning say "why isn't anyone taking Boeser" as well as saying that about Lind? Or did he say "Boeser won't be there at 23"?

Regardless, I hope Lind is as good as Boeser.

If you look at Boesers draft class - there's an argument to be made that he could've/should've went top 10
McD
Eichel
Marner
Aho
Werenski
Hanifin

Currently Lind is outscoring Glass if that's any indication (probably not much) but its intriguing - he seems to get a lot of primary assists which is a good thing too.

This has been happening for a decade or so now, every mid November they play only during the day.

Do you know how hard it is to be let go by the Canucks? It is easier to be fired from a city job.

smart ass...just because I'm not a fan doesn't mean others have to agree. I can respect Vantels opinions even if he does like Stecher, as Lefty likes to point out he is wrong from time to time...

Jim Benning & Judd Brackett

Draft & Develop

Questionable trades? Absolutely.

Long term we're in a better place today.

Thing is: most GM's aren't going to hit on every draftpick, just need to hit enough. I think he's hit enough so far. Petterson looks great. Boeser looks very good. Tryamkin. JV is coming around and will be a roster player, even if not a big points guy.
I agree some bad trades. Clearly Sven and Granlund are not them though. I'm hoping they sell Sven high this TDL. Finding a wing for Bo and Boes in the future is a non-issue IMO. Could be a nice return.

The new GM/Scouting group is the best it's been in decades. That's also why i'm hoping for at least one more top 5 pick. The year after we may have something, providing we can move on from some deadwood.

Thanks Neem55, I feel validated now.

On a positive note, guess who our best forward stats wise was last night?
Ill give you a hint, he was on the top line (stats wise).

This years draft has the potential to be the clubs best possibly ever.

Lind was a steal at his spot. If Gadj can improve his skating and use his size he has the potential to be a solid NHL player.

Not a single complaint for me regarding this years draft.

The resemblance is uncanny!

I'm all for a bounceback season, trade him at the deadline and forget it ever happened.

Hes here for the long term....

But his fancy stats are elite, even lat year he's produced shot attempts at a top 6 level.
He needs to play more, not less.

He's our superman

In his defense: He did awful his first year in Boston and bouncedback, hopefully he can do it again and GM's don't overthink his issues developing chemistry.
