Well that penalty shot was one of the worst calls I have ever seen, no one touched him and he had a clean shot, the panel after hours were dumbfounded on that. like rubbing salt into a wound.

It's the Canucks what did you really expect?

at least the prospect pool has improved.
- VanHockeyGuy

I was under the impression the prospect pool will be the Canucks next season.

Right you are!
After the TDL indeed. A small oversight on my part due to the glee knowing that the Canucks are going to be a force to be reckoned with due to the influx of raw, elite talent.
So much to look forward to!

Btw Pouliot has been solid, pretty much every fan agrees on that(fancy stats vs eye test aside).

I thought the trade was pretty meh when it happened but so far it looks like a solid move.

Also, Green was right. The team actually played pretty decently, just couldn't finish or even create enough high quality chances with their possessions. Lack of talent showed last night.

Maybe the twins need to play 7mins or less a night again.

Maybe. But it's not like their 5v5 minutes came at the expense of Horvat's line. It seems like they're getting the minutes the misfit line was(Burmi/Gagner/Vanek).

Horvat lines still seems like it's being used as the main scoring line at 5v5 and the Sutter line is still being used as a checking line.

Either way, this team was due for an offensive drought like this.

he will. i have little doubt that he's going to offload 2-3 players.

the return for the players is the question. if he continues the strategy of last tdl, i'm good.

this season, in my mind was always a write off. enjoy the games for the individual improvements in the younger players. evaluate the younger vets to see which are worth holding onto.

most of all... remember that the older vets are going to suck. such is the cycle of life.

to live and die by each individual roster decision (let alone each game) for a rebuilding team is

He has certainly demonstrated flashes of good offence since joining the club. His confidence with the puck is growing. I liked the little spin o rama on the point but you could tell he hesitated at first. Good trade Jimbo

a top 5 pick. a ufa signing and a trade for a top 6. that's all they need.

This is a good post. Ill be paying more attention to the chemistry of our new 1st line and our prospects than i care about vet stats or how good we can be with a bad roster.

A successful season imo is a top 5 pick. Selling all the ufas at TDL, the sedins retiring at seasons end. That is best case scenario imo

Like Codes said, I think some of us just watch the games differently. Canucks fired a lot of rubber on net, a lot of were low quality but even 40+ low quality shots deserves more than a donut. Green isn't WD or Henrik, I think he actually means it when he said the team played well.

They just don't have the high end talent to create and finish.

How about that Power Play eh? Hutton's drop pass is so delayed and predictable I actually miss Edlers. Im not sure if banking the puck off the boards to drop pass was written in the plans. Looked to me he was winging it.

I would like to see Boeser on the point blasting one timers

I'm not a Newell Brown fan, I know he doesn't have much to work with, but he's not exactly putting his guys in positions to succeed either.

You could honestly spend hours configuring different PP lines and in the end you maybe have a solid 2nd unit PP. Just the state we are in as a team unfortunately.

True.

I feel like the drop pass only works when player entering the zone has a full head of steam, it looks ugly when the guy who receives the drop pass is almost starting from a stand still.

And Gagner is being used incorrectly. You'd think they brought him in to use him like Columbus did(I know CBJ has a better team, but still)

They should force Boeser to watch Laine, Ovechkin, Stamkos videos. It worked well with Tree

The teams game has been falling back recently. It is kind of hard to have sympathy about no finish when you see Tkackuk Keller Sergachev already making good .

The Canucks refuse to change and still build the team around you know who.
