Yeah Corsi stats don't win you hockey games. Goals do.

His possession numbers don't make him anything but a 3rd pairing D that plays the least amount, against the easiest competition.

I'm not sure what you mean by impressive numbers then.

Corsi and points should not be in the same category. Corsi is shots for vs shots against while on the ice. Pouliout may not get points, but he is driving shots and possession. Whether its 3rd pairing or 2nd, hes having a posituve impact amongst the team while he is on the ice.

His numbers are impressive. He has the best corsi every night amongst canucks D and last time i checked was in the top 20 amongst the league in defenseman corsi.

Best showing on Pouliot is that he hasn't been prone to bone head giveaways or losing coverage. The eye test and stats back it up. TG knows how to work this kid and his redevelopment is trending in the right direction.

What gets people excited is that as a high draft pick and still fairly young for a D if his reclamation works out to going anywhere near the potential that was hoped for it would be a boon to a thin D core. We'll take a 5/6 D for a 4th and relic any day. But 4/5 guy is money!

I feel more confident in him playing in the top 4 over gudbranson, hutton. Biega and stecher (using his small sample size of this season only)

going for the playoffs? never a bad move to play to win.

would you want them to be buyers if they're close?

Lots of good pickings from the 2018 draft! Btw. Nylander is the 2nd best player on the leafs, maybe write a memo to babcock reminding him lol

But how does he compare at preventing dangerous shot zones?

As long as he plays less then 16 minutes a game. 16:15 is the max he is allowed, otherwise they lose. Anything less they win.

Right now he's trending there and we'll see if Pouliot can handle it given the injury situation. It's good for development to know what you got or where he is at.

Guddy also will be pressed into top 4 play and that will determine contract price how he fairs. Just cutting it and not excelling means under $4M.

My only caveat to above is that TG will have to find a way for team to respond without Tanev. He is an organic component to team viability. Not just the glue for D but makes team flow after his shifts. Without his influence on team chemistry and play its a bit of a firing squad situation for the others to make due.

That's not true, Dragon and I started to hate WD at the same time.

I didn't like them hiring TG though. (still unsure of it once in a while).

- manvanfan

It was I who supported & wanted TG. I didn’t see why groom him & not promote him. His pedigree & type of career he had seemed a natural fit.

Gudbranson has inspired me to rethink my entire everyday life.

I now leave my less valuable things out in the open for potential thieves to take and even sometimes leave a $5 bill outside of my door to satisfy criminals but I'm thinking about investing in a $10,000 safe to put my credit cards, ID's, Gudbranson rookie card and car/house keys in.

I feel way safer now when i go to bed.
