Inexact science but yes I'd have rather he picked some better players. Everyone says he's a draft genius but I've certainly seen some question marks with two of his three high first round picks.

Yes I'm using hindsight to quantify that, however, that's how people are measured, on what they've done.

I think Jake is being used wrong and it leads me back to something I have been against for years . A twenty year old should not be babysitting two guys who are past the due date . I think JV Bo and BB would be a great line.Last year JV sucked , this year he is one of the best

They don't really have anyone the would currently compliment his skill, as in a skilled second line center, thus he's stuck with the twins. Hopefully that improves going forward.

That being said, Ehlers was clearly a much better pick at that draft position.

The way he retrieves pucks and his speed with his shot would look good with Bo and BB. Sven is a third line player IMO

I know that's the convienient cliche, but how else do you measure a persons ability? Just say that's ok you didn't know any better at the time? Not acceptable!

Why didn't he know better? What lead him to make that choice? How can he improve so that doesn't happen again? If you accept mediocre picks because you don't know any better at the time you'll never get better unless you get lucky. I'm a paying customer, I expect and demand better....because that's how I roll.

He made a poor choice and he has to be judged on that choice.

I think he needs a better puck distributor to take advantage of his skill-set. Like Pettersson. I'm still not sold that he can process the game at NHL speed, he's a bull in a china shop, and that's ok, but he needs a certain set of linemates and the team doesn't have that yet.

I agree on Baertschi, not a big fan of his, but him Boeser and Horvat currently work well together.

He reminds me of Burke when he went to the Leafs and read the talent totally wrong and overpaid for Kessel. I would of loved it if he had told FA when he took the job that the team needed to start a rebuild, Torts told them but they didn't believe him and just fired him and went out and signed Miller and Vrbata

Good points . I think the progress over the 4 years has not been enough.We still don't have a top line or top pairing. Our farm team is still ______ ??? . I really have no idea about our prospects. Some look good but then you see Barzal Sergachev Jost Tkachuk.

It's only been three years, not four, he was hired in May of 2014, which is not a lot of time to completely overhaul the franchise. The progress should be better than it is, but that doesn't mean in my mind there hasn't been any progress at all, there has.

It's just not as good as it could've been, for varying reasons.

If FA has decided to rebuild properly I would like a GM and Pres. that know how that is done, not a guy that is good at watching kids play and a guy that is good at watching himself in the mirror.
