When Pouliot gets on the score sheet we're 4-0
0-7-2 when he hasn't recorded a point

- mattmoulson

I'm too lazy to look it all up, but I wonder what his usage stats are in those 4 wins vs nine loses?

But Sam Reinhart, who is 2 years older, has 95 points in the NHL and he is a bust

- homiedclown

He’s the first forward taken from the draft no I’m not happy with his production especially when more more people are better than him in his draft class

One was the second overall pick one is the seventh overall pick apples and oranges here

But that's in part because he isn't that good.

He's a lesser Jordan Staal. Solid, but not your franchise player you hope to get

- sbroads24

Agree
He’s not a “franchise” player
Not at this point at least
But it shouldn’t be about where he was picked anymore
It should be about putting him in position to succeed
If Housley thinks it’s as 3C,
then I’m fine with that
As long as u stop putting freaking Griffith (etc) on the wing with him
It’s like asking Tyrod to throw to Tate
U just aren’t gonna get the production you’re looking for the majority of the time

Pouliot?
Yeah, in a heartbeat
I think we are probably just getting a draft pick though
Maybe a 3rd?

He’s a stud I would overpay for him right now

He's their reinhart. Their value to their respective teams is about equal. Marner just plays a more entertaining style of hockey so it appears like hes doing more out there.

Girgensons-Eichel-Pominville
-Girgs has looked decent in the top6 this year. As long as Jack & Pommer keep scoring, I like him there to help balance the lines

Pouliot-O’Reilly-Bailey
-both the wings have produced when playing with ROR, so let’s keep them in situations where they’re playing well

Kane-Reinhart-Okposo
-KO finally scored last night, but he just hasn’t looked good on the 2nd line for the most part. Kane seems to be productive anywhere, so let’s get this 3rd line consistently scoring

That’s how I see it anyways
Roll all the lines evenly during 5v5
Keeping giving PP time to Jack, ROR, Okposo, Sam, Kane & Pommer

Agreed. I get that rookies need to "earn" their spot to some degree, but a guy like Baptiste wasn't drafted to be a grinder playing 5-8 mins a night. Especially because when that's where they get put, people complain about how they're not contributing on the score sheet and are a bust.

Baptiste is a speed guy with size. He does his damage by hightailing it up the ice and crashing the net. I'd love to see him on a line consistently with Eichel. I've been saying it since the beginning of last year.

- HonkFortheGoose

I see what you're saying, but I don't think a modern 4th line needs to grind. Just go out there, provide some energy and spend time down low in the O zone. Baptiste could help Larsson and Nolan do that. I'll take the 8 mins of Baptiste over Moulson any day. Have him take Moulsons spot on PP2 and his minutes get bumped up to maybe 12

Ok...
that makes more sense
I must have misinterpreted

I’d wanna see what Sam can do with some help before I just ship him off for a prospect

Unless it’s a very good prospect...
but if Duchene won’t even get that return, then I kinda doubt Sam will

Lately ive been feeling the same about him. I dont know what he'll get in the trade market but hes looking a lot like Jordan Staal as broads mentioned.

Think if you were pitt though... it hurt them a lot when they lost staal but they had to do it because he was due a major payday. If you can extend Sam to a team friendly deal, you acknowledge hes not a core player but youd be getting great value for a top 6 forward. Seems like the way to go.

Well at this point,
I don’t see him getting more than 3mil per for a year or 2
If he starts putting up 20-25goals and 40+ assists to go with it...
then we will have to pay him
And if that’s the production we are getting,
then I’d be fine paying him

I agree, but short of Dahlin, he's the best way to get a Sergachev type back in a trade wihtout moving one of the core peices.

Im not sure thats true either. i don't know which team gives up their best young player for him. Id say their top pick this year is the way to go either by picking someone (draft looks good for defenders) or through trade.

Reinharts value was high enough for that when potential was far greater than reality. But this is what year 4 now? Im not sure which team makes that deal.

I think when ERod finally gets healthy it could make for some interesting combos. He could fit in with sam with either of them going to wing. Or he could move up beside Jack and send Kane to Reinharts line.

I just don’t think he gets us a “sergachev” though
Isn’t that why Colorado hasn’t moved Duchene yet... bc teams won’t give up a top defensive prospect?

Could give him 4 mil over a longer term? could wind up looking good in the later years.

I didn’t include guys like Rodrigues or Baptiste bc I think they’re gonna be kept in the AHL for the most part
But yeah,
I’m all for bringing them up
Idk of that’ll happen for an extended time though?

one was second overall in a really weak draft

the other was picked 7th in a top heavy draft

it's really not much different but I would have to pull teeth to explain it to you

we should have Vanek like expectations in terms of production on the ice leading to goals

right now I do not see that

Due to the patient-doctor arrangement I am not allowed to discuss

It depends on the GM.

If someone loved him his draft year, they might think he still has a big ceiling.

It's the reason we have Zach Bogosian. You never know

Possibly
Maybe not next season, but by the year after, our top9 could (should) include:

Jack, O’Reilly, Okposo, Kane?, Nylander, Mittelstadt, Reinhart
Then there’s Bailey & Baptiste
Do we resign Pominville for an extra year or 2?
Asplund & Pu coming as well

So with all that talent,
I’d assume our 3rd line would be producing nicely (with Sam at 3C or otherwise)
