He was never that good to begin with. By that good I'm referring to gerbe spazz level good.

He’s a stud I would overpay for him right now

Can we put anyone on LTIR? No news coming from Josefson or ERod. We've got Baptiste here to take a spot if we could make a move. It seems like a waste to even call him up if we can't play him, and god knows the bottom six could use him

It wouldn't matter so much to me how it's shuffled to accommodate another RW, but playing him in the top 6 probably means demoting pominville to 3rd or 4th line duties. I liked Baptiste with Eichel.

It's more a matter of just getting him in the lineup somewhere to me. If he only fits on the 4th line, that would be fine with me. Shift Nolan back to his LW spot until Josefson or Erod are ready and put Baptiste on the right. I'm all about upgrading the talent level, no matter how it has to shake out

They can't/wouldn't use LTIR, since they aren't near the cap. They did move Beaulieu to regular IR. Fair to assume this is to dress Baptiste over Moulson tomorrow.

Let's cut Nylander... someone made the NHL before him so Gerbe says he sucks!

Agreed. I get that rookies need to "earn" their spot to some degree, but a guy like Baptiste wasn't drafted to be a grinder playing 5-8 mins a night. Especially because when that's where they get put, people complain about how they're not contributing on the score sheet and are a bust.

Baptiste is a speed guy with size. He does his damage by hightailing it up the ice and crashing the net. I'd love to see him on a line consistently with Eichel. I've been saying it since the beginning of last year.

When Pouliot gets on the score sheet we're 4-0
0-7-2 when he hasn't recorded a point

I don’t exactly disagree...
but isn’t playing him 8min a night better than him sitting in the press box?

This summer (and in the past) I’ve said I wanna see Baptiste get a shot with Eichel.
He’s got the speed to keep up, & the sniping ability to finish
He’s gotta start somewhere though

With Pominville & Kane playing well with Jack, I can’t just put Baptiste there right now
I would play him in the 3rd line over Griffith though

Dude go take a nap I never one time said nylander sucked

I’m the one telling people to stop calling him a bust

But try again

- GERBE!!!75PTS

But Sam Reinhart, who is 2 years older, has 95 points in the NHL and he is a bust

I would say that’s a product of getting “depth” scoring, not specifically Pouliot

It’s nice to see him producing though
I was ready to bench him earlier this year
He keeps this up & we should be able to get a decent pick for him at the deadline

Yes. I probably should have added that if he's not going to be used properly here that he should be back in Rochester for now.

I get that they brought him up because Bailey has an injury of some sort and they were traveling out west and wanted an extra body. I'm not saying that's a problem overall. But for an extended period of time, it shouldn't be how it happens, IMO.

I also agree with not wanting to move Pominville. I'm not saying they need to plug Baptiste in there now. But at the end of the day, I think those guys need to be together if/when Baptiste pushes for a permanent spot.

I’m a Sam supporter,
but I get where ppl are coming from when they criticize him
Wanting him to be better is valid
I’d just like to see him CONSISTENTLY with some wingers who have talent
Girgs has been playing ok, but it would be nice to see their other linemate be someone other than a borderline AHLer

Gotcha
Yeah, I agree that Baptiste should (eventually) get a shot with Jack...
they seem like they could be a good fit
He did play on Mcdavid’s wing in JRs

Baptiste has just gotta make the roster permanently first
I doubt he gets to play with Jack this year unless Pommer gets hurt

That’s reasonable...
but I don’t think Sam will get us a “top pair” guy
So while he’s here,
we might as well try & get the most out of him
That means putting some talent with him
Whether it’s Bailey, or Bailey goes into the top6 & someone moves down...
I’d just like to see it be someone other than Pouliot. He didn’t do anything on line3, but he looks pretty decent with ROR

Basically you can mirror your sentiments on Tyrod Taylor for Sam Reinhart.

You’d hope that your franchise QB, or your 2nd overall pick can win you games on their own sometimes.

Honestly, he needs to get a good chunk of time here in order to be a contributor. Took him most of the year to adjust to Rochester his first season there. He finally looked like he knew what was going on by the 3/4 mark of that season. I think you'll see a similar progression here as well. Just needs time to adjust to the speed/physicality at the NHL level. But I think if he's given the opportunity he'll figure it out.

U can kind of draw that correlation
The difference is...
Sam is our #3 Center
Tyrod is our #1 QB
So it’s not really the same thing

At this point,
Sam’s draft position should no longer be a factor in judging how good or bad he is
That’s pointless

But, to bring it back to the Tyrod comparison...
like we all wanted the Bills to get a WR to help out Tyrod...
let’s put some talent on Sam’s wings
Then we are more likely to see better production

I have high hopes for him
I’d say to get him some 3rd line time with Sam this year at least, and then see where it goes from there

But that's in part because he isn't that good.

He's a lesser Jordan Staal. Solid, but not your franchise player you hope to get

Pouliot?
Yeah, in a heartbeat
I think we are probably just getting a draft pick though
Maybe a 3rd?
