We’ve been spoiled, the last seven/eight years have really been something and I for one am glad I lived to see it. It’s been truly special a great run!
- walleyeb1

I couldn't agree more with you. I was 19 in 1961 when they beat Detroit and then went on a 49 year journey before the next one. And then 3 in 7 years, This board has got pathetic, with the whiners on it butchering Toews , Seabs and a few others. These rectal orifices need to get their heads out of said orofice and be thankfull for the run this team has had

There is no rebuild to be had. How a rebuild works is in either two ways...1-suck for a long time, accumulate high end picks and hope they turn into something. or 2-trade valuable veteran assets to restock the system/team. The White Sox traded VERY valuable and elite players to essentially go from a middling farm system to the majors best system. Now...they wait. The Hawks have nothing like that. They have no real movable assets that would bring much.

...with the possible exception of Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith ... And despite his brilliance, the 10.5 mya cap hit of Kane limits the options there. But those are the only two that would get you 3-4 high quality assets. Keith would absolutely be a huge get for a team at the TDL that wanted to make a run. Crawford would be too, but I don't see the market for a goalie. Oh yea, toss in the No Trade Moves Stan gave all these guys and now you have even less leverage.

100%correct
No Movable contracts to bring back anything remotely resembling main pieces of a re-build.
Those pretty much only present themselves in high first round picks(usually)
People talking about trading Toews and/or Seabrook as part of a rebuild are laughable. you think you will get a couple high end prospects and picks for either? If Toews wasn't making 10.5, then maybe, but his salary makes him unmovable at any reasonable price. Seabrook's situation is as bad or worse. Thing is I do NOT think Toews has been that awful. Even so no chance he moves...so it is what it is.

Anisimov won't get you much of anything. And after that there isn't much left to move. The minors have some ok prospects, but no one that really projects as an elite player.

The combination of a declining team, monster contracts for under-performers, a mediocre at best minor league system, all combined show that we may be heading toward some really lean years in Chicago.

And then - with that “no player movement” - try to go cross ice with a pass thru several opposition sticks....
- StLBravesFan

i counted about cross ice attempts and then stopped...most of them failed ended up with losing the zone

1. puck had to far travel
2. poor pass
3 receiving player did not get it cleanly
4. as you said defensive sticks broke up the play

they are in love with this pass and its not working...

on pp...its kane the QB on the half boards...everything is going through him but nohting is getting through; shot blocked, shot missed, stick deflect, pass deflect..

Spot on. And all that = we are in serious schit. We need to move Q. It’s time. Team is unmotivated and unprepared. PP is, well it’s a joke. We can’t run and gun like years past. Fine. Play an Uber right D scheme and counter punch. Tell guys you are gonna chip it and go get it. Tell guys you are gonna keep it simple. Clean look? Let it fly and attack the net. Adjust to your team Q. He isn’t. X/O with Q is failing. Team needs an influx of Rockford guys. I’d rather lose with young hungry kids busting their a$$, then millionaire Vet’s coasting around.

Granted, it isn't easy to watch what's been happening on the ice the last couple of weeks but you really are already getting what you are asking for - rookies, runny nosed no NHL experience young guys in the lineup and playing out of salary cap necessity. Because that's exactly what Debrincat, Forsling, Hayden, Oesterle, Schmaltz, Kero, Forsberg and even Rutta and Hartman are. And in the Central Division having 1/3 of your playing roster comprised of guys like that is the recipe for missing the playoffs.

So although the big money vets haven't been stellar to date, take a look at that supporting cast around them. And then compare it to what Nashville, St.Louis, Winnipeg and Dallas can throw at the Hawks and what Minny has when they get healthy. The Hawks are in trouble big time in the nasty Central and it ain't because Q has forgotten how to coach. If he had options, most of the guys mentioned above would be elsewhere - learning the ropes, getting pro experience, growing up.

He isn't beyond criticism, but firing Q's ass would just be a premature ejaculation moment to appease the armchair QB's - experienced guys like Claude Julien, AV, Hitchcock aren't having a much easier time of it where they are right now. Q would probably wind up in Winnipeg in a heartbeat and take that team a lot farther than their current coach can.

Why are you against rebuilding? I dont get it...

If I may chime in on that one, about 12,000 reasons why. Called " season reservations!"

I don't know that the Hawks are as bad as everybody is saying. They still have the most dangerous offensive weapon in the league: Kane. They need to put him with the right people. J.J. mentioned that was a reason Evander Kane was being looked at. I would suggest moving Saad down with Kane. They played great together in 2014 playoffs with Shaw as the center. I think they might be somewhat more dangerous with Scmaltz as the center. And, when Kane is going it seems to ignite the whole team. As for who's more to blame Quuenneville or Bowman, I'd have to go with Quuenneville as more blameworthy. Bowman brought in Nick Leddy in a trade for Cam Barker. For some reason, Queenneville didn't like him and he went in the defensemen's doghouse. He was traded because Queenevville didn't want him. Leddy is a guy who can skate like the wind and carry the puck himself into the offensive end. The blue line trap doesn't work against him. And then, after Leddy got out of the doghouse Trevor Daley went right in. Another puck moving d-man. (Notice a trend here? It seems Queeneville doesn't like puck moving d-men. One wonders what he would have done with Bobby Orr or Paul Coffey when they were rookies.) And he got traded to Pittsburgh where a rookie coach used him to win not one, but two Stanley Cups. And the last point i want to make about Qeuenneville is what he did with Dale Weis when they got him from Montreal for the Cup run in 2016. He sat and sat and sat. Finally, in about the fifth game against St. Louis he was put in and he played good. As for the contracts, I don't remember people complainig at the time when Toews got his, although I do believe the Seabrook contract was inexplicable.

If ADB is not in Rockford, I would like to see:
12-19-14
20-8-88
10-15-38/40
17-57-40/38

Hard to disagree with you on the talent Q has to work with. Bowman has made far too many errors with contracts and salary dump trades over the years. Now that 2-19-7 are no longer high end players, this is the product we see. If coaching change isn't the answer, then Bowman needs to go. He has too much personal connection to the veteran group he handed out max contracts to. Need someone here who can cut ties on certain guys and have a new direction. The Hawks are a lost group right now, from top to bottom.

A coach and or GM has to make the games fun, challenging, worthwhile. The feeling Keith has is not totally surprising given Q, his system, and everything Keith has been through. The solution to whatever extent it works is some new players, new coach, no more idiotic contracts
- jhawk59

The most interesting part of this story is that it was in April of 2011. Somehow Keith managed to get out of his funk and the Blackhawks went on to win two more cups.

I don't think Q has forgotten how to coach ,just that he seems to not be able to adapt to a changing game .And young players is the change I am suggesting ,The league is becoming much younger every year . And young players Is not Q strong point ,he loves his Vet's .Who with rule changes and ware and tare cannot keep up in big situations .Are the current group of kids the HAWKS have able to do this ,we will have to wait and see .But they need to be used and practiced to ever know .. Time for Q to take a seat at the track or upstairs and see what Stan deals with every day ..

Rick, I usually agree with you. In your first two paragraphs I do as usual. But I'm not so sure on the last one.
