You seemed obsessed with how the Sens are built, their "window", their Roster etc etc ........... you don't seem to want to talk about the 3 game losing streak the leafs are currently one, and the back to back they're playing in the LA area ........... I would be interested in hearing your "take" on them...... just as Senstroll did. - D0PPELGANGER
Yes, because I am looking big picture instead of a couple weeks.
I understand your perspective though. If I was forced to face the fact that my team was headed nowhere fast, I would cling to every positive I could to help me feel better.
You'll be OK though. You will just have to get used to not expecting to be relevant, ever.
Spent most of yesterday on the beach. Great sun, Got a bit of the burn.
Went to Longhorns for supper. Had the Outlaw (18 oz. rib eye).
Watched the beginning of the Canadiens game. Cary Price is not coming around. Best Dman since Karlsson is available in the coming draft and maybe it is time for Montreal to fold. They have some pieces that would allow them to have a huge draft in a very good year.
Ottawa played their best game of the year and dominated for the first two periods. Not happy with the way they let up in third period and sat back and defended. Not sure what Boucher is trying to get them to do to close out games.
Thought Leafs played a solid game. But, once again they were let down by a porous defence. LA Kings are a strong team.
25 scouts at Sens game last night. Nobody knows what is coming but I am inclined to believe the deal is going to be much larger than smaller. Names on the list that could be considered are Duchene, Zuccarello and Pacioretty.
Belleville game turns out to be a great home opener including a win for the good guys. I knew that Paul could handle himself. Very impressed by Englund taking care of business.

Sat beside a complete row of Sens prospects last spring at a Sens Playoff game vs the Rangers ...... and noticed that Paul is a pretty big guy............... perhaps he opened a few eyes with that little scrap.

What happens when you don't win this year either, and the Leafs are at the very early part of the upswing while your team gets older and more expensive.
What will the narrative be then? You better start preparing. Reality is going to hit you like a ton of bricks.

Back in the days when I was a Leaf fan I became increasingly frustrated by the Leafs trading away draft picks and refusing to acknowledge the need to rebuild through the draft. So, you need to understand that the point you make is a valid point. But, you also need to know it has been made out of your experiences and disappointments.
You can go back to some of the threads on this site and you will see my saying that Leaf fans were more than happy to be patient to build through the draft and around young players. Once the Leafs made the decision to rebuild the turn around was fairly efficient and the product was highly entertaining once it was understood what the game was.
As recently as yesterday Pierre Dorion was telling the Ottawa media that Colin White and Thomas Chabot were very special players and would soon be moving into the regular line up.
I believe the Sens will make one more substantial deal for a top 6 skater. I believe they will finish the season strongly and go deep into the playoffs. I believe they are the only team in the East that can beat Tampa.
Next year we can talk again about rebuild. It is not anything that bothers me and I think you are projecting your own pain of multiple years of Leaf frustration into the idea that a rebuild is painful.
Ottawa played there best game of the year last night. Finally they are getting some players back from the flu that has hit them hard. Despite the illness they did okay other than for the laugher against Montreal.

Teams win championships on the basis of one great player and a very good supporting cast. Does not mean that the team with the best player always wins. Karlsson will bring Ottawa a Stanley Cup if he has the right supporting cast. I think they made great strides last year in building the team around Karlsson.
You need to see goal #3 by the Sens last night to understand that the sole of this team lives in the body of Erik Karlsson.

so when he is like -5 (-6?) against a division rival, where is the sole ( ) then

He struggled mightily. Some people said he had the flu but refused to take the night off. I think it was just a bad night and he is still not fully rehabbed and is playing without having any summer training or team camp.
Whatever, the night was bizarre. By last night he was brilliant again. Having played barely 1/2 the games he is only 1 point away from taking over the scoring lead among Dmen. Did I say brilliant!

either the flu, or a bad night, bad luck or all three.

So just speculation on the future of the Sens ................ you've got nothing to say about about the poor defensive effort put forward by your leafs???
Are you that afraid to talk about the leafs, and just spew un-provable made up speculative crap about the Sens?
