I know we all enjoy his stupidity because it brings us laughter when our teams let us down or during the boredom of the summer doldrums but I think it should be noted that for his part, his stupidity is a great natural remedy to the anguish that comes with being so emotionally invested in such a horrid team.

Anyone with even the most tenuous grasp on reality and the correct number of chromosomes would recognize that the Sens organization is objectively terrible from top to bottom and hasn't shown any signs of getting better. Quite the opposite actually. They continue to try and get out of the hole they're in not with a ladder but by digging with a bigger shovel.

Any normally developed adult, short of suffering from some massive brain trauma, would be despondent about this situation. Not Derps though. No, his ability to ignore all inconvenient facts allows him to sleep at night instead of obsessing for the next year over the fact that the Sens may have marginally upgraded their 2C position at the possible expense of a future franchise centre +++.

If mental gymnastics were an Olympic sport, Derps would have crushed Michael Phelps' record for golds long ago.

making an ass out of yourself isn't trolling. it's making an ass out of yourself. some people lose touch with reality when all they've ever done is make an ass out of themselves though and they have to try to find a way to justify it in their mind because they can't change it.
