Son's ball hockey team played one of the teams with a dedicated goalie yesterday.(The other teams, including my son's, alternate guys)

So this other goalie comes out, with a Sens Jersey on... and proceeds to give up 3 goals on the first shift, en route to giving up 11 goals in an 11-4 loss. I think he made maybe 5 saves all game.

I dunno, maybe he was rattled by the tough parking situation at the arena?

Maybe the kid was rattled because he knows his ball hockey team only has a star defenceman and nothing else and that star is going to leave for nothing and then he'll be stuck on an abomination of a team with no prospect of any success now or in the foreseeable future.

Well they also have a couple star forwards... who will be leaving also.

Do they at least have a good minor ball hockey team to help build the organization from within?

What a great win for the Leafs. I really enjoyed the game tonight. Game 7 should be intense. Another unexpected bonus after some poor performances early in the series.

Speaking of poor performances it looks as though we'll be deprived of our one man clown act once again. The gifs must be piling up now.

Win or lose... game 7 is not "cannon fodder".

Sadly, once again, D'oops gets it completely wrong. I wonder if we could put his idiocy to good use, like get D'oops to predict some sporting event, and then bet the opposite or somehow harness the intergalactic levels of D'oopsDerp to play the stock market.

The possibilities with someone that (frank)ing stupid, are virtually endless.

The day of reckoning is upon us. Kind of dreary outside but that's not enough to dampen my mood.

Despite its flaws this Leafs team has shown a ton of character coming back to force a game 7 in this series. And looking at the bigger picture, in addition to getting the most points in the standings in the franchise's history garnering a top 3 division seed instead of a wild card, these kids in this post season have taken a stronger opponent further than last year's. Sure Washington won the President's Trophy last year but Boston is a more playoff built and experienced team.

No matter how tonight turns out I'm very happy with my team and can look at this season as a marked improvement upon the last one. And that's what you want to see with a team, especially a young one that's still building.

What would be terrible would be to see my team go really far despite not deserving to, convincing myself that it wasn't unsustainable luck driving the pseudo success and then watching the team poop its pants over and over the whole next year both on and off the ice. To see one horrendous game after another, being shut out seemingly once a week, making crippling trades that squander what few future assets they have, hearing the owner threaten to move the team, knowing in my heart of hearts that the only legitimate star on the team wants to get as far away as possible and not even being able to use my fast food vouchers because the team is so incompetent that they couldn't even activate them.

So I'm just going to sit back, relax and appreciate the fact that tonight I'm going to watch my team play in a game I had no reason to believe would even happen a week ago. I certainly won't be a ball of stress and pent up hate who measures my own success by the failure of a sports team that I don't like and derives what little pleasure I get in life from trying to make others feel bad because of said sports team.

i don't even like the leafs and this series has been the most fun to watch of the first round. i was hoping it would go 7 games but didn't really think it would. so either way, good series.

Definitely a good series. The second round match up between TB and whoever wins tonight should be a good one too. WIN/NSH looks to be the marquee series of the entire playoffs though, IMO.

I didn't see much of the series but it appears that Philly was let down by their goalies again. Better offense than I expected all year long. I kept waiting for Couts to come back to earth but he just kept getting better, even on one knee! Young D-core is the envy of the league. How long do you think until Hart is on the big club? Does he spend all of next year in the AHL (barring injuries) or will he get a legit shot to come out of camp with the Flyers?

flyer fans would have a broad street bully bird if they heard me say this, but i was happy with the flyers season. maybe the sixers did this to me but i can deal with a developmental year. maybe the eagles doing what they did helped me deal with the flyers not being a real contender. i don't know.

all we've been hearing about is all this youth and we knew the names but hardly ever saw any of them but this season a lot of these young guys got a lot of experience and some of them looked pretty good doing it.

hart is the one real piece i'm waiting for pretty hard. i have no idea how much longer he has to bake but i'm pretty hopeful about him (although i've learned my lesson about getting too hopeful when it comes to flyers goalies).

I can see them not wanting to rush him but I know nothing about how the Phantoms are so I don't know if it would be a better learning environment for Hart or not. He had a historical season in the WHL and is viewed by many as the best goalie prospect in the world. I think you're right to be hopeful about him.

No reason not to be happy with the Flyers this year; lots of positive signs. Some good vets Simmond/Giroux/Couturier/Voracek and a number of good young players. They appear to be building something solid with a good future.

Yes, it is house money now as far as I am concerned.

All I wanted to see was progress.

Andersen has shown he *can* come up big, consistency will come.
The team is playing a team that finished ahead of them in the standings, and had th best record in the East in the second half (I think?). Not only that, Boston is a team built to win now, with a very good group of vets, AND some very good young players.

The fact that the Leafs have shown some grit and heart, and come back to force game 7, looks good on them.

Steps forward

The only thing I would have liked to see was Nylander and Matthews taking the next step and showing they can be playoff performers. Their performance thus far has been disappointing.

The Nylander goal last game should hopefully loosen him up a bit. I'm convinced Auston is playing through an injury but it's hard to give him a total pass based on that alone. Especially after seeing Couturier come back from his knee injury. Hell, Karlsson last year, on one foot, made a half decent chicken salad from what was essentially him in the kitchen with a giant bowl of chicken poop.

That said, I'm hopeful that the Leafs biggest stars can be their biggest game breakers tonight. If the top lines play to a stalemate then we'll need Anders2n to come up big and hopefully won't see Ander5en show up. Then it will be up to the secondary and tertiary scoring to make their presence known.

If it is an injury, it depends on what it is. If it is the shoulder, and he needs surgery, then you could see why the total drop off of production, especially playing most of the series with the other guy whose production went missing.

Thanks CBB. Have to give credit where credit is due. Bruins are in a different class than the Leafs right now. Definitely a contender VS pretender scenario. But progress is being made. Should be a great 2nd round series against Tampa.

And a special thanks to Derps for making everyone feel better just by continuing to be his same old predictable, pathetic self. I'd say never change, but octogenarians rarely do anyway.
