The Senators are playing golf, and we're relaxing waiting for the lottery draft. |

Leafs really squandered a golden opportunity to tie up the series with Bergeron out. No way they pull out 3 straight wins (2 in Boston), especially if Bergeron comes back.
Have to hope that this is an eye opener for the youngsters who have largely looked like boys playing against men most of the series. Management has some work to do to, most notably on the blue line.
My pre-season prediction for the Cup was NAS over TB. Sticking with that, I'll take TB over BOS in round 2 to claim the Atlantic division. |

I can't "blame" the youngsters. They are young, and very inexperienced. Boston has a great veteran group leading their good young talent. The Leafs don't.
That is what happens when you are in like year 2.5 of the rebuild. Could be worse, we could have nothing now, and nothing in the future... like the Sens.

Agreed. Still lots for the youngsters to learn, but lots of time for them to learn it. A better supporting cast is needed, particularly on defence. You and I both pointed out this season that the Leafs give up far too many chances (not necessarily tonight). Freddy had a great year overall but to expect him to bail their asses out night after night just isn't a recipe for long term success.
Still, they're a team on an upward trajectory. Last season they squeezed into the playoffs late as a wild card and blew a bunch of games late. This year they were almost guaranteed a top 3 Divison spot by January. They're a good team but not a true contender just yet.
Fortunately for us I believe the management group recognizes this too and will continue to make the incremental improvements needed to keep the team moving in the right direction. Continue to build a franchise that can be a perennial contender with a solid feeder system. Not a one trick pony that flukes its way into the ECF and deluding itself into thinking that the clock will never strike midnight and subsequently squandering what precious little future it has in misguided trades. |

If Nylander can be part of a trade for a difference-maker on the blueline, I am all for it. He is a younger JVR.
I am back where I was on Day 1 with Andersen. I hope the Leafs continue to draft goalies. |

Agreed once more. As long as Maximus isn't making the trade then yes, I would part with Willy for a D-man of similar age and potential.
Freddy has been very Jekyll and Hyde. I wonder though if he would be more consistent if he had more confidence in the defenders in front of him. |

Well, that was nice to see the Leafs pull out a win in the face of serious adversity. Probably wasn't nice for some viewers though.
Facing elimination, on the road, Bergeron back in the lineup and having to overcome an unheard of 7-1 power play disadvantage.
The only disappointing part is now we'll have to wait at least another couple days before we get any hilariously weak, but totally not obsessed and rattled to the core, troll posts. |
