Zibibbybabbyjihad - 24 years old, 30 points 46 games + 2nd
for - Brassard 29 years old, 29 points 51 games + 7th
Got older and less productive and gave up a 2nd rounder to do so.
Turris - 31 points in 49 games + 1st, 3rd, goalie, last year's first
for - Duchene - 31 points in 53 games
Ottawa got more offensive upside but has to re-sign Duchene and he isn't going to be all that anxious to stay around this train wreck. They gave up a lot to break even overall, at best.
Signed a 36 year old goalie to an extension giving then 6.4 million in mediocre goaltending through 19/20
... definitely this is the guy you want around to handle difficult upcoming contract negotiations or trading some guys to start rebuilding the team.

I'm so happy for you Sens fans. You guys just extended Dorion and I couldn't endorse this decision more. - BetterCallSaul
Its great. I wouldnt want him anywhere near my team thats needs a serious overhaul. So a perfect match for the Sens |

good game last night. the better team in Ontario was easy to see. so was the bigger mess.
karlsson looked shaken and angry all night. i wonder why. if i were a sens fan I'd send him a letter reminding him that the sens made the ECF and would be better this year. right spatso?
id also remind him they have games in hand so theyre practically in first place. right d'opps?
on another note, marner looked great last night toying with lesser talents and an easy opponent. that line is on fire and Kadri is back on track. loving it. |

Tough game tonight for the Leafs. They're hosting the top team in the league and they may be a bit rusty.
Since Wednesday night's shootout win against last season's Western Conference champion the Leafs had a good scrimmage Saturday against what I'm assuming was a Junior-A team for some sort of charity function or something while the Lightning beat the Kings at home.
Tampa is not only the better team but they had to play against NHL competition as recently as Saturday whereas the Leafs haven't gone up against pros since Wednesday. Tampa wins 4 - 2 |

No excuses. Just my prediction for tonight. Hope I'm wrong. I plainly said, in more posts than one, that Tampa is better. But I love when fans of other teams twist words around to suit their own narrative. It's great.
Maybe Babcock uses last change to his advantage but even with his preferred matchups Tampa Bay's forward depth is still good enough. Defence isn't even close. Goaltending is the only place the Leafs really stack up, IMO. And the Leafs have unfortunately relied too heavily on goaltending to shoulder the load, especially against upper echelon competition. |

Dumping him without retaining salary, onto a division rival no less, is one of the best moves the Leafs ever made.
Poor Gaborik. His birthday is tomorrow and he's gone from LA to the most irrelevant hockey market north of Carolina. |

the number is 19. it might mean something. it might not. but its 19.
the leafs have 19 losses in reg.
the sens have 19 wins.
but 19. probably means nothing. the sens have games in hand. still....19. |

someday you may actually experience your team winning a round or two and you will see how very exciting it is! - Spatso
Most of us have experienced that. It was followed by a prolonged period of futility because our team that was built to win then, failed and there was not much left to build on.
That story is going to feel very familiar to you. - Aetherial

Anderson @ $3.1Million, next season
Condom @ $1.7 Million, next season
Equals $4.8 Million for both Starter and Back up goaltenders...... for next season.
The leafs are paying, just their starter $5.0 Million, for next season.
add in the cost for whoever the leafs can get for a back up............... and it ends up with Ottawa having better goaltending and paying much less than the leafs. - D'oops again-er
fond memories from page 810
Anderson / Condon 6.6. and rising in the next 2 years
Andersen /McIlhenny 5.85
... but for sure Ottawa's goalie are better!
