Yes, the leafs are comfortably in a Playoff spot ........ but the Bruins have risen up the Standings, and now hold the coveted 2nd spot in the division, with 3 games in hand.
I wonder why the leaf trolls are concentrating on the minor coaching adjustments to a lottery team, and totally are turning a blind eye to the leafs slippage in the standings.
The trolls don't want to discuss their team, they prove they're only here for one reason. - D0PPELGANGER
cause were in the playoffs. better situation. and we enjoy making fun of the lesser of the two ontario teams.
i wonder why sens trolls dont discuss their team. im just kidding. i know why.
kind of ironic you didnt discuss your awful sens team but pointed a leaf short coming. guess we know what youre here for eh? just one reason. and now that your team is a hot mess you cant even troll.
funny how it works. |

the Sens collapse is hilarious for obvious reasons..but Listening to the radio while the pundits try to explain what the problem is...has to be more enjoyable.
Its always the same stuff..and we heard it with the Dion/Kessel Leafs... Karlsson the best player is not playing well, no leadership (or bad Karlsson Leadership), the team quit on the coach, not enough caresi. etc..etc..
to me its mostly on the GM. whatever the issue is, players, coaches ..he put this team together. For people that were looking, it was easy enough to see that the sens were riding a bubble last season, there are simple tells like the Sens being the worst goal differential (a minus) in the playoffs. the fact the GM cant see that (or maybe the owner cant and is telling him to keep pushing) is a major red flag imo
they just didnt show well in most of the stats and Data..and if you ignore that long enough it blows up because you keep making moves that you think are helping the team (example Burrows..adding grit), then sign him to an extension ...just awful
ill end with the Leafs.. they have a decent record and are in a decent place, but they are starting to slide in the numbers and stats also. I think its fixable and they are in the right position to try and make a move to add d or something to improve the team..but at the moment its concerning.

If you look at this and say anything but rebuild and start over...you should be fired as a GM
Lots of big names coming up as UFA.. they can get a good haul and be good again soon enough. Pray for a Dahlin lottery win and that helps

the unprotected 1st is the gift that keeps on giving. if they miss dahlin, they're (frank)ed.
i could see them trading for some veterans; in hopes of finishing 11th and in order to avoid keeping their pick this year. |

thats definitely a precarious situation.
that will likley affect the decisions. to be clear I do not at all expect the Sens to rebuild which makes it even more delicious.
If the draft pick in 2018 is not a top 3, id say hand it over and be done with it. If they keep it, the 2019 is a weird year..they cant tank on purpose.
I really dont know what to say is the best option, either way a colossal (frank) up

this is the issue to me. capfriendly doesn't have the pick as optional. someone in the sens thread just posted a link that says it is optional.
i'm curious to know if it's the sens option or not to move it... |

according to this its their option

if Ottawa misses the playoffs this season, and that first-round pick ends up being in the top 10, the Sens will have the option to keep it. In that scenario, the Avs would get Ottawa's 2019 first-rounder no matter what, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

The Leafs have exhausted all of their long road trips with over 70 per cent of their road kilometres already realized for the entire season. The longest trips remaining on the schedule are visits to Dallas later this month and Florida in February and March. |

It is concerning. They are also not guaranteed a playoff spot by any means.
It has been a very difficult schedule and some tough injuries as well as very slow starts/poor sophomore seasons for Nylander and Marner.
The defense is also a train wreck. When you have Roman Polak out there for 20+ minutes then you know you are in trouble.
I like that they are staying the course and not making panic trades or rushing kids into the lineup (*cough* Senators *cough*). I think we all suspected that they would give it a shot this year, thus Marleau, but that ultimately they knew that the team, was far from complete.
They are showing us how far away they really are.
So, while I think people need to temper their expectations this year, they are still doing the right things and sticking to a plan. |

yeah. this is what i'm finding confusing. capfriendly has this, which implies no option:
Condition: If the 2018 1st is a top 10 pick, Ottawa will retain the pick and Colorado will receive a 2019 1st instead.
edit: friedman just confirmed in 31 thoughts. sens have the option. |

that sums it up well. leafs playing good hockey considering they finished dead last two years ago. no team is perfect. tampa is as close as you get though, but even they lose games from time to time. would be silly to be down on these leafs when they havent even played their best hockey yet. guys like aeth gotta accept teams allow goals and lose games. even the best teams. the future of the Leafs team is bright. |

Darren Dreger drops a bit of a bomb while on with @nielsonTSN1260 right now, saying Ottawa and Edmonton were close on a Cody Ceci for Taylor Hall (and it may have been 1 for 1)
I hope this is true |

yeah I just saw that
#Sens fans will (not) love this section... "... so it would have been Hall for Ceci – but had to be cleared in Ottawa through ownership. And before they could get clearance, Hall got traded to New Jersey for Larsson." #Oilers
phew am I glad Melnyk is in charge |
