Could go south quickly. I think there's a pre game ceremony for D. Sedin's 1000th point tonight too. I don't know why but those kind of home games with the drawn out start don't often seem to go well for the Leafs. Plus the old first game back home let down game.

The weird thing is that these games are usually pretty intense even though they only play each other twice. I guess the players read tweets from the idiots from both fanbases and get pumped up.

Normally I would say sweeping the western Canadian road trip isn't realistic especially with Vancouver exceeding expectations and not being a compete joke this year (that honour belongs to Ottawa) However, this is the first home game for the Canucks after a long eastern road trip. 4 - 2 Leafs.
- BlueBallz

I can see that happening, and I suspect the Fan split will be close to 50/50, as the excitement grows for the leafs cup run next spring.

leafs are still top three (at least) in the "odds to win the Cup" sweepstakes.

Any NHL player that reads tweets from " the idiots from both fanbases" would have to be an idiot themselves.

I'm just saying, it's weird that these games get so intense. Usually takes a big hit or something to get 2 teams from opposite conferences to play like they're rivals.

In this case, it's two Canadian team on HNIC, players get up for this over other games.

I've seen Canuck games on HNIC against the Sens/Habs that are way less intense.

I suspect there are more leaf fans in BC, than either Habs or Sens fans .......... so this would add something to the atmosphere of the game

Nucks gutted out the W in a tough situation. Definitely heard the go Leafs go chant on occasion, though I fell asleep for much of the second and third (this illness is still working me over) Good character building win for Vancouver keeping them right in the thick of the playoff hunt.

This western trip went much better than the previous one. A well deserved 3 days off waiting for the Flames to roll into town.

Tough match tonight for Ottawa. Probably a huge weight off their shoulders getting that win against the Isles especially with such a big offensive outburst, but Hellebucyk has been unreal this season and the Jets sport one of the top offenses in the league.

Solid road trip for the Leafs. Played good and exciting hockey for most of it and the fact the three road games had a home game feel to it made it fun to watch. Slow start did them in last night but they showed this team doesnt give up when down. Gotta love this Leafs team.

if the sens play anything like they have lately the Jets will tear them a fourth bumhole. that's a scary good team right there.

That's at least 1 too many bumholes than I would like. Seems like this could be the year where all that young talent on the Jets coalesces to fulfill the promise of the past couple seasons. Like the Leafs last year though their youngsters still have to have their first trial in the crucible of the playoffs. That's one hell of a tough division to be in. Securing home ice ahead of STL and NSH is a tall order.

So I guess it's time for the Sens to stock up on poop tickets.

sens head down to california after being embarrassed in winnipeg.

habs and bruins with a chance to put some more distance between them and the sens.

leafs with a light week. need to start playing better to sustain their position.

bruins can easily start to challenge the leafs for 2nd in the division imo.

my point was that you cant assume anything. until the standings change, go with whats a certainty, which are the current standings. i mean...lets face it..sens havent won in what 6 or 7 games? anything can happen.
- systemtool

Well you are assuming that Ottawa will NOT get any points, in the three games in hand they have with the Habs.

If anything is an indication of future play, it's the past ............ no it's not any where a 100% guarantee.......... but if a team is currently playing at or around a .500 P% to date, it would be a huge stretch to assume they'll get a few points, out of those three games in hand .............. again, no guarantee ......... but neither is your assumption that they'll get zero points either.

- D0PPELGANGER

5 points now. dont assume points. go by points in the bank. goal differential doesnt matter though.

Bruins have 4 games in hand on the leafs, so you're right to be looking at them to challenge for a "Home ice" PO position in the Atlantic.

The Senators actually have played one more game than the Bruins, and trail them by 4 points, so if they don't get their act together, soon, the playoffs will be a struggle.

The Habs have played four more games than the Bruins, who have a better record than the Habs, so they don't really own that playoff spot, the Bruin do.

unlike the sens, the habs have goaltending that can consistently get them into the playoffs.

and unlike the sens, the burins have a true #1C and actual good young dmen.

it's going to get worse for the sens as the season wears on.

Too bad I think Laine is a pompous Richard.

I don't like any teams in the west can run away with it, so the Jets could come out of the west if their goaltending holds up.

Blake Wheeler is the most underrated player in the league.

As much as I hate to admit it, the Leafs success is a bit of an illusion and is largely the result of An6ersen saving their ass for a 2 week stretch.

Honestly, the whole thing could look different in a month from now. The Leafs could be battling for the 4th spot if Price stays hot. The Bruins are underrated.
