nothing's perfect.

i usually i look at corsi-close: tied or a 1 goal game.

but even that gets skewed by third period 1-goal leads.

when I check the shot locations on the pretty hockey rink image here
http://moneypuck.com/g.htm?id=2017020387

the Leafs almost always have a huge blue spot right in front of the net, they are doing things to get the puck close and are getting high danger chances. Its working well

interesting. they're riding a sky high pdo.

increasing the high danger chances could make that sustainable? idk, i've never seen a team do it.

That top 10 protection thing really wasn’t well thought out. Top 5, even top 3 would have been plenty.

If the sens defer the pick to 2019, it’s going to cause them to be buyers instead of sellers. Lots of ufas to sell off next year; that they won’t. instead, they’ll mortgage the future even more.

This trade could really set them off the rails for a long-time.

Will be fun to watch this play out.

looking up some numbers the Leafs sh% is high..not crazy high though
the top 3 PDO team are also the top 3 team basically

TB 8.97 + 93.57 1.025
TOR 10.38 + 92.14 1.025
STL 8.87 + 93.39 1.023

if you check historically, the Leafs are rigth at the top end of what teams have ended the season at

https://www.sportingchart...shooting-percentage/2016/

the 2009 Caps shot 11.6% on the season which is the highest in recent seasons

All that said, I would expect the sh% to regress a bit yes. but they are a high skill team so it could stay above 10%

typically i attribute high sustainable pdo to goaltending.

price, lundqvist, rask and holty have all supported high sustainable pdo's for years.

until the leafs prove they can sustain it for 2 years, i'm going to be nervous about it dropping.

this is very exciting.

sens picking 11th would be delicious

- Tumbleweed

funny how you leaf fans insisted, for the last 12 years or so, that the leafs were always better off than the Sens, as they were picking higher in the draft than the Sens were.

Now this year, the leafs will be seen, by leaf fans as being better of, by selecting way way lower than the Senators appear to be at this time.

funny how that is, eh?

meh.

you either tank and make the draft worthwhile or hope for the best.

sens are in hope for the best mode. this could get ugly.

rattled. back to the covenient 12 year window.

funny how that is, eh? for years you talk trash then run away when the shoe is on the other foot.

in the Leafs >>>>> sens thread you posted from page one. Leafs the envy of the two ontario teams now and you stop posting there. coward. wussy. hypocrite. idiot. go hide some more.

when your roster is old and void of young elite talent the draft is essential and of utmost importance. when you have that young talent the draft is less of a priority and winning games means more. thing here is the leafs have far more talented youth than the sens especially in the nhl, and are set up much much better this coming draft.

funny indeed. hilarious, definitely.

They're not going to be able to find a stupid enough GM to trade Ryan, Burrows or Phaneuf to either.

Hopefully for them, they have a plan C

wow, you are reaching now.

At least the Leafs fans had some solid points to make about being in a better position. It was mostly because we all could see the Sens were going nowhere and didn't have much for the future. The Leafs were clearly on the upswing.

Now, when things turn against you, you have nothing. You don't have one single thing to hang your hat on. The Leafs are in a better position now and it isn't even debatable

Sounds like Karlsson isn't real anxious to stay.

Tonight feels like a trap game for the Isles. Between their great home record and Barzal setting the league on fire through November it would be easy for them to look past such a weak opponent and get caught snoozing.

The Sens on ice performance is almost as pathetic as the flailing, fallacious arguments put forth by the troll twins but at least the Sens players still show up and can salvage some small bit of dignity.

3 - 1 Sens including the empty netter. Spatso returns from self imposed exile reuniting the troll twins in all their derpy glory.

Well the score didn't turn out as I thought it would but the result was as predicted. Sens get the regulation win on the road. Had to happen eventually.

With Chabot's 3 point performance and Karlsson practically booking a moving truck for July 1st, 2019 we may have a new "precious one". Still lots more derp left in this thread now.

Normally I would say sweeping the western Canadian road trip isn't realistic especially with Vancouver exceeding expectations and not being a compete joke this year (that honour belongs to Ottawa) However, this is the first home game for the Canucks after a long eastern road trip. 4 - 2 Leafs.

Could go south quickly. I think there's a pre game ceremony for D. Sedin's 1000th point tonight too. I don't know why but those kind of home games with the drawn out start don't often seem to go well for the Leafs. Plus the old first game back home let down game. Looking forward to seeing this Boeser kid play either way.
