.. until they don't matter, right?

We have seen you lose track of this before.

Seriously, I think your confusing me with someone else's point of view. I never had any problem with Leafs or any other team padding loser points, especially on the road. My issue on the Leafs was their blowing third period leads, something the Sens are now doing.

I thought the Leafs were full value for their playoff appearance and, if you remember, I thought they could win the series against the Capitals.

sens playing well above their talent level and winning the odd game here and there. i know they have more losses than wins but its sad the fans dont have any passion for the team. a poster in the sens thread the other day said he couldnt even give his tickets away.

its too bad they dont have a young exciting core that fans can be excited about. seems they understand the situation.

for the record.

tampa leads the atlantic in goal differential. not ottawa.

- systemtool

Yes that is correct, I meant they lead the Ontario based teams ......... Tampa is in a class of it's own right now.

Sens do lead the Ontario based teams in points though.

Tampa is MILES ahead of the other teams in the Atlantic at the moment, including Ottawa.

.

I agree with this 100%.

scoreboard says they lost more games than they won. and standings makes a come back i see. funny how that works.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Standings are based on points, right?

I know the NHL points system is stupid ....... and is designed to keep fans interested in their teams longer in the season ...............

it would a much better world if they just got rid of the points system, OT and Shoot outs ....... and just let games end in ties ...... and use winning percentage to rank the teams in the standings.

I've always thought that whenever the Canadiens need a new coach, or GM ........... they never allow themselves to hire the best person for the job, based on merit, and reputation ................... they handicap themselves by finding the best available bilingual candidate, that is also willing to take the job.

I thought the Leafs played a pretty good game. Did not get any breaks. Maybe gripping their sticks too tight.

You are being generous.

there is no question the swagger is gone at the moment and that is everything to offensive players.

When that happens though, the way out of it is to put in the effort and play some defense, like Ottawa does.

The Leafs are not willing to pay that price, and they appear to lose their steam as soon as the inevitable softie or two goes in,

They are still supposed to be in a rebuilding year, but there is no excuse for poor effort. There are some passengers on this team that, thankfully, will not be there next season.

Some of the young guys have never had to play a strong brand of team defence. They have always played dominate offensive roles with teams that could win on the basis of offensive output. You can see the frustration of Babcock. Players are not listening to him because in their experience they have no real understanding about what it means to be outworked. Players with high skill usually win over hard work until you get to the NHL. Lots of high skill players never succeed because they are never able to master the importance of their defensive responsibilities.

They showed a clip of Marner not hustling back after a good rush. His man came back to score on the counter. But it is not just Marner who has to pay attention when Babcock talks about the need for hard work.

Perron is more like Mike Hoffman in terms of his Q history. Drake Batherson was just drafted this year and he showed really well in camp and was a late cut. Not much history but he is getting lots of attention with his start.

“First of all, he’s got the No. 1 criteria for the NHL … he’s got high, high end speed,” Boucher said. “He’s a big guy, he’s tough, he’s relentless, he’s physical and he’s got great hands and good vision.

“It’s a rare package because of his size. You see a lot of fast guys, and you see skill, but having that skill and that speed, on that type of body, that’s a rarity. Big time.”

theyre not playing their best hockey right now to say the least. i too felt luck/breaks werent on their side but they got out played and out scored when it mattered. if they dont shape up and get their offense clicking earlier in games, next week could be a long one for us leaf fans.

sens fans were very upset with me. I said Jason Spezza should be traded. he should not get a long term deal. He did not work hard enough in support of his incredible natural talents.

Leaf media has noticed that Babcock withholds his praise of some high end young players, one in particular. His comments about being outworked is not idle chatter.

i have seen Crosby outplayed. i have never seen him out worked. young players who have had great success on the sheer force of their natural skill need to know the difference.
