spazzo, who are you trying to convince? Me or this guy....
Would I do a Duchene for Turris deal?
Not sure what you gain. Both are very good players. But Turris is one of the best at playing Boucher's game and he has been clutch when it really matters.
Players always have an adjustment period after a trade and I am not sure you want to change up the chemistry that already exists with the team.
Turris would make a huge difference in Nashville aspirations.
Pageau has become Boucher's favourite go to guy and he gets all the top defensive roles. He has played really well in an offensive role since Turris went down.
Clearly Ottawa is not going to give Turris the long term deal (up to 8 years) that he wants. I agree with the need to exercise caution as their are some bigger deals that need to get done over the next few years.
Peak production for a forward is age 26 and younger with significant drop off after age 28. I am fine with short term deals for forwards at high dollars just do not provide excessive term. Long term deals with primary Dmen are okay as they move well into their 30's at peak performance rates. Same for goalies. - spatso |

Funny to see how much butt hurt Leaf fans are taking over this deal.
It has been Dorion's dream to put an offensive centre like Duchene on the ice with Karlsson. Everybody needs to be patient. Not a time for saying dumb things that is going to open you to even more ridicule in the future.
As Dorion said this morning, the Sens are a very good team, they are going to the playoffs and it is his job to try and ensure that they go even deeper than last year. |

Those comments were pretty astute and I am pretty confident in their appropriateness to the situation. You have not seen me judge the deal other than from Dorion's and Boucher's perspective. They seem very confident that they have hit a home run. We will know soon enough.

Let's see what the numbers look like when Turris no longer plays with Karlsson. Let's see what happens when Karlsson starts feeding Duchene.
You either trust your management and coaching or you don't. Boucher wants Duchene, he has wanted him badly since the beginning of last season. Is he a good fit into the Ottawa system and Karlsson...we will find out soon enough.
Ottawa never made Turris a priority. They never really pushed for a long term deal. I am a huge Turris fan but it appears that Ottawa coaching and management does not share my opinion.
Everybody just needs to be patient. We will know after 5 games how well it is working.
Ottawa is pretty strong down the middle with Duchene, Brassard, Pageau and Thompson. We know that Boucher especially like Pageau and Thompson.
Great time to be a hockey fan. - spatso
such a strange phenomenon with coaches ..Babcock is the same with Polaks and Martins.. they just love those players..can do no wrong..and will call out Hoffmans and Nylanders who are actually good players and keep coaches in Jobs |

"After a promising start (6-1), the Leafs have gone the other way (2-6), including their last three of four on the road. Since their 6-3 loss in Ottawa, they’ve allowed an NHL-worst 33 goals in eight games."

In particular you gave up more future for a minor upgrade now. In fact, I am not even sure Duchene fits better than Turris in your system, even though he is the better and more valuable player. - Aetherial
Well.......... you're on of those underlying numbers guys, right?
According to this article............. " it turns out, all the underlying numbers suggest Duchene is the far superior player, despite his basic numbers registering similarly to Turris'."

If you like the fancy stats, GAR has pretty much been equal the last 2 years. Hero charts are a dead heat. that article is just a random collection of pieced together stats and dumb rationalizations.

Or regular ol’ stats:
Points ppg this year and last turris is better.
Duchene was -34 last year
With the new face-off enforcement, Turris is now a top 5 faceoff guy.
Also, “Turris is one of the best at playing Boucher's game and he has been clutch when it really matters. “ duchene with 6 career playoff assists, 0 goals. Turris 13 goals and 14 assists.
But yeah, Duchene is clearly the far superior player |

Perhaps Duchene is the piece Dorion needed to wedge Tavares out of Long Island?

Yost says the Leafs will get better defensivley
http://www.tsn.ca/leafs-h...-defensive-third-1.906933
i will wait for Spatso to post his TSN article he writes on why they wont - senstroll
To be fair, it is pretty tough for the Leafs to be worse defensively than the last couple weeks. If they were, they would finish dead last again. |

Do you still think that Runblad and a second was way too much to give up for Turris?
Rather than post emoticons like a mindless idiot, how about you try to follow the RECENT discussion about the trade.
I meant Turris alone would not get Duchene. You should have been able to follow along with the conversation. Clearly I expected too much from you.
So what happened?? ... well I was 100% (frank)ing right. You gave up a lot to get Turris. - Aetherial |

Yeah, got me on a misspeak... way to go buddy.
and you failed to acknowledge how you totally missed the conversation and started laughing it up about something you didn't understand in the first place.
Find any evidence yet of me planning the Leafs parade?
Yeah. didn't think so.
By the way... see how I admitted I misspoke (mistyoed). It is pretty easy to make an innocent mistake. Afterwards, it is just as easy to man-up and admit it... well, ok, clearly it isn't easy for you.
