Because I haven't gotten married had kids and decided to be flexible for my job and not buy a home and be stationary I get basically 0 of my taxes back. Penalized for being a responsible adult. That's what's criminal to me.

I just find it ridiculous that ANYONE would be taxed at 50% of their income. That is criminal. - MBFlyerfan
In Canada when you hit a threshold of 240,000 your personal income tax is 53.5%....I laughed when the Newyork times wished they could have our new prime minister over Trump....this just after he raised the tax amount on the top 1%(bs) from 51 to 53.5%...they would laugh him right out the country.

I'm not sure how Canadian taxes work. I assumed their tax rate would be higher largely due to publicly funded healthcare. I understand this may be naive. It would be great if someone from Canada could chime in. Nutter around? - JFlyers00
Health care is only one of the social programs that make our tax system skewed.

It is crazy to think that we hold people responsible for their actions.
Can you imagine having to actually live with the consequences of your choices, your actions. - ggunky
We all do every day. And yes, some people accept/ choose more risk in their professions than others. However, each of us can make a choice for compassion when risk takers get injured at work.
Would you have chosen the same language for a firefighter or a cop that got injured at work?
Or just because hockey is a well compensated game our tolerance for compassion changes?
That's the thing. After all expenses (food, rent, taxes, etc.) are paid, the player is still banking over $200K. That's pretty nice. - jmatchett383
Maybe it's a surprise to a 19 year old that a million dollar salary doesnt mean you take home a million dollars. I'm sure we can all remember seeing all of the taxes taken out of your first paycheck too.

Depends on the year....that 53.5 is the net #....if I buy the rrsp, your 401k, I can get a decent return....personally I think anyone making under 50 k a year shouldn't pay any income tax. Our tax system also has 13% on most goods and services ....so it is tough really get ahead.

AMac, while passing yhe eye test, is not passing the syats test. His corsifor of 41% is the lowest he's ever had and his corsirel to the team is -11%. While i never wish injury on anyone, just like how when streit went down and we got ghost this may end up being for the besr
Weal read rotating on 2nd line. Lehtera on third line. Weise raffl rotating 4th line. Sounds like weal will be game time decision if he doesn't play read does Weise looks like he's getting scratched
Interesting. Don't love splitting Hagg-Ghost, but Provorov-Hagg could end up being the top pair for a long time. - BiggE
I actually like it. Means hasktol is taking chances. Hextall handles recalls not hasktol so whether Morin comes up is on him. Idk why we have 2 offensive defenseman on the same pairing though with gost gudas.

My brother in law is a Cop and my Son is in the Air Force.
They both understand the risk and proudly serve. My point of view in no way should diminish the respect they deserve or to minimize what it is they deal with on a daily basis.
But they understand what they signed up for and accept whatever may come their way.
I am not saying it is easy, or fun. It sucks, but I thank God for men like them every day of my life.
EDIT:
Just because i say they understand the risk doesn't mean i lack compassion. I truly don't know how one leads to the other.
