Never want to see a player go down to an injury especially a solid vet like 47.
Hopefully he heals up and comes back when ready.

That doesnt mean I dont want to see Morin or one of the other youngsters up here though. I have to think that when Flyers are really competing for the cup it will be with the Morin type players and not 47...

He was playing well, we are off to a good start, this will probably hurt the team more than most think. Everyone is looking at it as a good thing and should not be.

I'll be the first to admit I wanted all 3 rookies to make the team and AMAC waived but he has played solidly and I agree they may miss him.

There is also a difference between the obligatory praise -- when you specifically ask a teammate about a player -- and players wanting to make sure the guy gets some credit. More than once, when Provorov has fielded questions about his individual success, he has also made sure to send some credit to MacDonald for being what he considers an easy partner to play with.

Yes, that speaks to Provorov's maturity and future leadership potential of his own -- clearly, Provorov could find success with a variety of different partners -- but also speaks to the respect that MacDonald gets in the room regardless of what fans think about him.

Bill,

With all do respect, i couldnt care about the respect aspect. I want the best players playing. Do we know if Morin and and Sanheim are better players? No, not yet. But we know what AMac is and he is a guy who is playing out of position. Ideally he would be a 5-6 guy.

Sorry if I would rather watch the future (Sanheim, Morin) then the stagnant present (AMac).

It's interesting that Provorov feels that MacDonald is an easy partner to play with. You would think with Provorov having to drag MacDonald around that wouldn't be the case.

You can look toward and wish for the future without disparaging a player who doesn't deserve that.

I really hope they don't mess with the Gostisbehere/Hagg pairing. They've been very good and Gostisbehere has been a difference maker so far.
- MJL

Then that means Gudas with Provorov and two rookies as your 3rd pairing if you keep Manning scratched. The only other way to keep Gostisbehere/Hagg together is flip Provorov to the off D and play him with Morin. I feel bad MacDonald got hurt. He was playing really well but I do want to see the giant play in the NHL and now is as good a time as any.

His first 8 games are some of the best hockey he's played as a Flyer. He's not a legitimate top pairing defenseman but he was playing like one of the better options to fill that role. I don't think his 20 minutes a night are going to be as easy to replace as some think they are. Hope I'm wrong.

Provorov-Hagg
Morin-Ghost
Sanheim-Gudas

Keeps a rookie on each pair, along with a puck mover. Seems balanced.

There are things they can do for sure. They can play Gudas with Provorov. The Gostisbehere/Hagg pairing is playing really well. I'd like to see them call up Morin. Perhaps there is a silver lining here. At some point something has to change.

I'd be really hesitant to break up the Gostisbehere/Hagg pairing.

That's what I'd go with. Of course, Manning might dress over Morin but with Amac down at least a month, Morin will play some.

I don't think Morin-Ghost would be worse. They just might not lead the legaue in PDO or whatever.

You might not think but it's possible they might. Hagg and Gostisbehere have some real chemistry and with the way Gostisbehere has been playing, I wouldn't touch that pair.

Flyers might avoid a call up unless it's really needed. That would take up cap space that could hurt them with bonus money.

Morin and Ghost played with each other before too, I think that would be what I'd try first if they break the Hagg-Ghost pair.

Shame about MacDonald as he has been playing very well so far this season.

If I had the time or the inclination I'd make a Bad Luck Brian meme as it fits him perfectly right now.
