Yes but the miscommunication is where he got his years mixed up with my original post. Mac and Coburn only saw one full season together as teammates and that was the season Coburn was traded.

Not arguing with you. He just kinda put words in my mouth and Coburn and Mac did start the season as the top pair during the 2014-15 season before Coburn was injured. That's where he's wrong.

Fair enough. I think that we can all agree that Andrew MacDonald is not an ideal top pair defenseman.

"We play for the crest in the front. You don't matter. If you don't like it, you can get out."

Or something.

I’ve looked for a photo of that sign on and off for the last year. Can’t find it. They had it in the locker room around the Berube years.

I don’t want Mac to be hurt because I am sure he’s a nice dude and all. I would have preferred him over Manning but he still sucks.

Again, agree to disagree. The notion that the current wage gap divide is ethical is wrong to me.

Here is a life lesson for you. How much you make is directly linked to how valuable you are to those who are paying you. If you're a CEO running a company that generates millions and millions on profit for the share holders or owners, than you're going to be well compensated for that. There is nothing unethical about that. Now there are certainly professions that in my opinion should be paid a lot more such as teachers, policeman, fireman, first responders, and armed forces but that is a complicated subject.

How could anyone ever disrespect the courteous, considerate, gracious, and overly open-minded person that MJL is?

He's such a swell person and never tries to get a rise out of people or egg them on. I don't see any way that people on here could ever have a bad opinion of such a warm, inviting person.

- jmatchett383

It's pretty clear I'm flawed but MJL isn't half the jerk now that he was 10 years ago. He's reasonable now.

Everyone goats everyone into something on this board. I'm discriminated against everyday for being aggressive but mostly being a Schenn fan...which I don't get why you guys care...

Yeah but what you getting at?

That you don’t have a power over some of us? Hell man you do, and you know you do. I don’t mind, fun sometimes.

"I never made you write that post. You chose to post that based on what I said, and that is your right to do so. I'm right you're wrong. Once you take the time to realize that I never made you post that, you'll understand that I never made you post it. I'm right you're wrong. Once you can accept that I never made you post it, then we can have a reasonable, mature conversation about what powers I do and don't have."

What I'm getting at is that you blamed me for your involvement in the discussion of this topic, when in fact, you started it.

Teachers? Maybe in some parts of the country but not in this neck of the woods. After you're in a few years, teachers in Bucks County make over $100K a year and the property taxes reflect that. They don't start far below that either. They make more than they should around here.

Sure some teachers are paid very well. Some however are not. Some even have to pay for supplies for their school kids out of their own pocket and do so willingly.

i went from page 4 to page 14 and clearly things veered off course between those 10 pages.

good lord.

let's say that Morin is called up and finds himself a regular for 5-6 weeks and plays well enough to deserve to stay. Amac then is declared healthy.

your move, ron.

He would send him back down. I think Manning will play during this time. They don’t want that many rooks.

A big positive of all this could be showing that the team can play well without amac. An opportunity presented itself, so they need to take it and run with it. AMac is the least likely to stick around out of that group (ignoring Manning) getting a trial run for replacing him is cool with me

Avery did a memoir. On Jason Williams.

“I would not have shed a tear if he choked on a bone at the rookies dinner and we lost him. He was a kiss ass, a one dimensional automation”.

That’s great.

Which is proof positive your income is based on what you can take/get away with not what you actually earn/are objectively worth to an organization. Which is OK but to think otherwise is naive.

Yes must be awesome to have every moment in your life dictated for you. What you eat, what you do with your free time not to mention being away from you family for half a year. Also what they get is much lower than what we see. Once you account for their escrow, income tax, agent fees and cost of livving fees they lose a substantial chunk of money

For example a player making 1 mill would pay 18% to the NHL in Escrow(180,000)

Next comes income tax. Having paid escrow, the player is now taxed at a rate of around 50 per cent on $820,000, depending on where the player lives in Canada. A player in Montreal, Toronto or Ottawa pays the government $410,000.

Players pay their agents between three and six per cent depending on the amount of services provided by the agent. The agent’s fee is calculated after escrow is paid. If a player pays his agent four per cent of $850,000 (after escrow) it would be $34,000.

players will spend around $70,000 a year for hockey-related expenses – things such as agent fees, personal trainer, disability insurance, trainer tips, supplements, workout equipment, etc.

It is estimated players need to budget $50,000 for rent and utilities assuming one can get a 10-month lease. A young player who takes on a roommate to split costs, it could be less than $50,000. If you are an older guy renting a house in New York or California it will be closer to $100,000
.
I know guys who are renting in Chicago or New York for $15,000 a month

For basic living expenses (food, clothing etc.) $3,000 a month and budgets another $3,000 a month for miscellaneous expenses (entertainment, gifts etc.). That works out to a combined $72,000. Also $25,000 a year for car expenses which includes monthly payments and insurance.

At the end of the day the player is left with a net savings of around $240,000.

So is $240,000 a year worth having to spend a lot of your time working out, having to eat based on your job, all the traveling and not being able to sleep in your own bed and putting your body on the line every night and possibly your permanent health?

I just love this part:

"For basic living expenses (food, clothing etc.) $3,000 a month and budgets another $3,000 a month for miscellaneous expenses (entertainment, gifts etc.)"

Yes, let's spend frivolously with no thought of tomorrow.

As I said in the previous thread, I have doubts they even bring him up if he is just going to sit in the Cote suite.
