For those suggesting Pequods as the go to deepdish, i respectfully have to disagree.

Never had their stuff until i started working in the loop, and believe me, i dont think its bad by any means, i just dont think i'd go and suggest it as a top option.

I guess Gino's east would be my first choice or Giordano's, but i dont know if i could actually pick. If'n i had to though, Pequods would not be the recommendation.

I know its not "true chicagoan" to like Uno's, but they make damn good pizza, or at least the last time i ate there years and years ago when there was a location on Roosevelt in Lombard next to the Cadillac dealership.

There are some prime spots in the suburbs i'd take over any one of these places we're talking about though either way.

Guess its a personal preference thing. Gino's east and Giordanos are the last two places I would send someone.

I forgot about D'Amatos pizza bread. That's scrumptious as well. Coal fire isnt bad either

The only chain Id probably do is Lou's

thanks for all the tips... I plan on drowning in deep dish at some point and will see if we can get to one of the above mentioned!
I'm sure the crowd is pretty lively... especially for a game with the Preds after last playoffs. Should be a lot of fun!

I agree. I don't think it is that great and I have tried tons of combinations. Also the wait line can be horrible.

Personally, I don't think Nancy's Pizza on 2900 N. Broadway gets enough credit for their stuffed pizza. Prefer Gino's over Giordano's. If anyone is feeling adventurous I always recommend Kumas.

And, as JJ has mentioned (aka the DeBrincat hat trick) he's getting flattened on a regular basis. At 5'7", a shoulder is going to hit him in his head. His current style of play is not sustainable.

He needs to be put on a line with a couple other guys who can win puck battles, and that's not the 2nd line. Someone yesterday mentioned the Toews line, flipping him with Panik. I'd hate to do it since the first line is playing so well but it might be worth an experiment and Sharp - AA - Panik would be a solid 3rd line.

Something needs to shift with him sooner rather than later.

- matt_ahrens

Your post serves also as the reasoning not to trade for DeBrincat.
A rival would be foolish, like buying insurance which is poor coverage if you get hit.

I love having him and I just feel that he should be looked at as a regular but keep in mind his presence is like having a bonus player on hand for an undetermined amount if time going forward. So Bowman needs to not trade another #1. You hope Bowman drafts another forward, be that a bulky power forward or a fast skill guy....the player cannot be averse to scrums or afraid of board battles. The last three skill forewards drafted early & are going to appear as temporary help until they were traded or felled by concussion.

In a game as physical and challenging as hockey, what odds on how long until Schmaultz and DeBrincat are seriously concussed. Whereas Toews last a long time before changing his style this year, it is highly unlikely these two new kids last that long. So enjoy DeBrincat in particular as a bonus and go draft better.

And while ii am thinking long term, the offensive skater to replace Keith one year down the road may be in our system. However I have no clue yet with the development curve early for Kyrs and perhaps a Toulola or Carlsson. But not Snuggerud. The later is my vision of a valued third pair. Cmon Press show how good you are.

Good call on the Montreal-stype pastrami.

The Gage on Michigan Avenue has pretty good poutine. I'm sure there are others around the city, but the Gage has good overall food and bar.

- AEL_Fox

Love the Gage. There's a decent Belgian bar/restaurant, Hopleaf, up on the northside (on Clark in Andersonville). Don't know about poutine there but great steak frites and all sorts of beer.

Never tried their pizza bread but they supply the bread for one of the best sandwich shops in the city, Bari.

Awesome meatball sandwiches, Italian subs and my fave, prosciutto with fresh mozzarella and marinated eggplant.

I used to live a few block from Hopleaf and went there a lot with friends. The in-laws loved it there, especially the huge beer menu.

Hey Chicago fans:
Just bought tickets for Fridays game for myself and 5 others that are in town for a conference.
Any recommendations for things to do around the arena that are a must? Bars/restaurants.
Looking forward to visiting the Madhouse... hoping for a good game too!

Al's beef has great beef sandwiches, but i found a place, don't know the name, but its on Michigan Ave by Roosevelt University that sells Italian food like beef, sausage and so on, is very good. As well as Pizano's pizza and pasta, portillos for hit dogs, anyways, good luck, have fun

Fogo de Chao is the plan for Saturday night I'm told by the organizer.
I've heard much about it's meaty deliciousness.

Beware the bread and the salad bar - their trick to fill you up before the meat starts arriving. The caiprihinas (sp?) there are delicious!

Not sure what I landed on....hockey blog or yelp? Wtf???

P.s.
"Chicago pizza" is NOT defined by the deep dish crap ur all shoveling
Go to palermos on 63rd st
Go to nick and Vito's on Pulaski
Go to any neighborhood pizza joint....it's about the sauce and the sausage, not what ya read on the inter wide web....get out and learn before ya preach
Peace and love
